Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Join Arista Networks, a leader in cloud networking, as a US Customs Analyst and play a pivotal role in our Global Trade Organization. This remote position offers a unique opportunity to shape and manage our US import operations, ensuring seamless and compliant movement of goods across borders.
  • • As a US Customs Analyst, you will be at the forefront of managing the intricate details of customs declarations, working closely with our trusted network of contracted customs brokers. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all import declarations are filed accurately, efficiently, and in strict adherence to Arista's established customs operating procedures and the complex regulatory landscape set forth by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and various Partner Government Agencies (PGAs).
  • • You will be instrumental in the day-to-day management of our customs brokerage activities. This involves overseeing the entire lifecycle of import declarations, from initial data submission to final clearance, ensuring that all processes align with both internal policies and external legal requirements. Your proactive approach will be key to identifying potential issues before they arise and implementing robust solutions.
  • • A critical aspect of your role will be the assignment and support of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications. This requires a deep understanding of product lines and the ability to accurately classify goods according to the HTS, which directly impacts duty rates, trade statistics, and compliance. You will collaborate with internal teams and external brokers to ensure the highest level of accuracy in HTS coding.
  • • You will be responsible for conducting regular self-assessments of our import operations. This proactive measure allows us to identify areas of potential non-compliance or inefficiency. Based on these assessments, you will develop and implement corrective action plans to continuously improve our processes and mitigate risks.
  • • Governing the performance of our customs brokers is another key function. You will establish performance metrics, monitor broker activities, identify any performance gaps or areas for improvement, and work collaboratively with them to implement necessary corrective actions. Your ability to foster strong working relationships while holding partners accountable will be essential.
  • • Staying abreast of the ever-evolving landscape of customs regulations and industry standards is paramount. You will dedicate time to continuous learning, researching changes in legislation, policy updates from CBP and PGAs, and emerging best practices within the global trade community. This knowledge will be critical in advising the organization and adapting our strategies.
  • • You will play a vital role in reviewing and providing critical information to our brokers concerning specific trade regulations, such as Section 232 tariffs and Anti-Dumping/Countervailing Duties (AD/CVD). Understanding the implications of these regulations and ensuring our operations comply with them is crucial for cost management and risk mitigation.
  • • Ensuring compliance under PGA rules is a significant responsibility. You will work to understand the requirements of various PGAs (e.g., FDA, FCC, EPA) and ensure that all necessary documentation and declarations are submitted accurately and on time for goods regulated by these agencies.
  • • You will be a key point of contact for responding to inquiries from CBP, including requests for information under CF28 (Request for Information) and CF29 (Notice of Action). This involves gathering relevant documentation, providing clear and concise responses, and working towards a swift resolution to maintain smooth customs clearance.
  • • Proficiency in managing programs and data within the US Customs and Border Protection's Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Portal is essential. You will leverage this system for various import-related functions, including filing declarations, tracking shipments, and accessing compliance data.
  • • While the primary focus is US imports, you will also provide support for import activities in Canada, including familiarization with the Canada Border Services Agency's (CBSA) new eManifest and CARM (Customs and Revenue Agency Modernization) application. This cross-border knowledge will be increasingly valuable.
  • • This role requires a meticulous approach to documentation, a strong understanding of international trade compliance, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks. You will contribute directly to Arista's global supply chain efficiency and compliance posture, safeguarding the company against potential penalties and disruptions.
