- • Own the end-to-end UX for A1’s core app experience across iOS, Android, and web, designing how users initiate, monitor, and complete AI-assisted tasks.
- • Design user flows for AI-driven workflows that span intent capture, multi-step reasoning, external tool interactions, task completion, and recovery from failures or stalls.
- • Visualize and communicate the AI’s state to users at every phase—loading, thinking, acting, waiting, completing, stalling, failing, and recovering—with clarity and transparency.
- • Define how the app surfaces the AI’s decisions, actions, and required user confirmations or adjustments, ensuring users maintain control throughout the interaction.
- • Map the full spectrum of AI behavior states and design intuitive interfaces that help users understand, trust, and manage non-deterministic system outputs.
- • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and machine learning teams to translate user needs and system constraints into concrete, actionable design solutions.
- • Conduct usability research to identify moments where users lose trust, feel uncertain, or disengage, and use findings to iterate and improve UX patterns.
- • Create wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity prototypes in Figma that engineering teams can build from directly, minimizing ambiguity in implementation.
- • Contribute to and evolve the company’s design system with reusable UX patterns specifically tailored for AI-powered applications.
- • Design for both simple, everyday interactions and complex, multi-step AI workflows within the same interface, balancing simplicity with system complexity.
- • Focus on reliability, feedback, and recovery in product experiences where AI behavior is asynchronous, context-dependent, and non-deterministic.
- • Advocate for user-centered design principles that prioritize transparency, control, and predictability in AI-assisted workflows.
- • Ensure all design outputs align with the product’s mission of achieving high reliability for long-running workflows and persistent context.
- • Participate in iterative design reviews, feedback cycles, and cross-functional alignment sessions to refine design direction based on real-world usage and technical feasibility.
- • Translate abstract AI capabilities into tangible, understandable user experiences without oversimplifying system behavior or misleading users about capabilities.
- • Maintain a strong focus on edge cases, failure modes, and recovery paths, ensuring the UX remains intuitive even when the AI encounters unexpected conditions.
🎯 Requirements
- • Experience as a UX designer on consumer mobile or web apps, with a strong portfolio.
- • Solid skills in user flow design, wireframing, and high-fidelity prototyping in Figma.
- • Ability to design for systems that are asynchronous, non-deterministic, and context-dependent.
- • Clear thinking about user trust, control, feedback, and transparency in AI-driven product experiences.
- • Experience conducting user research and turning findings into design decisions.
- • Comfortable working in fast-moving teams with evolving product scope.
