- • As a Weekend DevOps Engineer at Sportygroup B.V., you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of the company’s cloud infrastructure across six countries, with a focus on weekend operations to support global service continuity. This role is essential for maintaining high availability and performance during peak usage periods, directly impacting user experience and operational resilience.
- • You will work closely with a team of DevOps and DBA professionals to improve infrastructure efficiency, reduce costs, streamline environment provisioning, and enhance system responsiveness by incorporating modern DevOps practices and technologies. Your contributions will lay the foundation for scalable expansion into new markets.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining cloud infrastructure using autoscaling, automated alerts, OpsWorks, and Grafana dashboards; taking ownership of cloud operations; liaising with external security agencies for annual audits; conducting internal security sweeps; reconfiguring architecture for rapid multi-country deployments; and mentoring junior team members.
- • You will independently lead the planning and deployment of infrastructure projects, manage Kubernetes environments with CI/CD pipelines, optimize Linux and JVM performance, and apply deep networking knowledge (TCP/IP, HTTP) to troubleshoot and enhance system reliability.
- • Experience with AWS services (EC2, VPC, Lambda, EBS, S3), modern microservices and service mesh architectures, caching layers (Redis, Memcached, CDN, HTTP cache), and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher) is essential for success in this role.
- • The team operates with a remote-first mindset, offering flexibility in scheduling while maintaining core collaboration hours (10am–3pm local time). You will join a globally distributed team committed to sustainability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement in DevOps practices.
- • In this role, you will gain hands-on experience leading infrastructure initiatives in a fast-paced, international environment, deepen your expertise in cloud-native technologies, and develop leadership skills through mentoring and cross-functional collaboration—positioning you for growth into senior DevOps or platform engineering roles.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of professional DevOps experience with proven ability to independently lead infrastructure project planning and deployment
- • Expertise in AWS cloud platforms (EC2, VPC, Lambda, EBS, S3) and hands-on experience managing Kubernetes with CI/CD pipelines
- • Strong understanding of microservices, service mesh, networking (TCP/IP, HTTP), and caching technologies (Redis, Memcached, CDN, HTTP cache)
- • Based in Europe, Asia, or Latin America to ensure overlap with global team operations
- • Excellent troubleshooting skills, including Linux OS diagnostics, JVM optimization, and performance tuning
- • Experience with monitoring (Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch), logging (ELK, Log4j2), and infrastructure as code (Salt, Chef, OpsWorks)
