📋 Description

• At GALVANY, we are on a mission to democratize climate-neutral living by developing concrete, smart, and accessible solutions for heat pumps, battery storage, and smart metering. Our innovative GALVANY-Tech is the engine driving the energy transition through software. We are building an AI-based Operating System designed to streamline and optimize the entire lifecycle of energy systems, from sales and planning to installation and ongoing operation. This system is engineered to manage everything from individual single-family homes to large multi-unit buildings, and even extends to our Energy Community, functioning as a Virtual Power Plant.
• As a (Senior) Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in architecting and scaling the core systems that form the backbone of our AI-based Operating System. Your responsibilities will span the critical intersection of complex energy hardware and sophisticated digital experiences. You will be instrumental in optimizing our Virtual Power Plant capabilities, developing high-performance APIs that power our customer-facing applications, and engineering the foundational platform that supports our entire business operations. The work you do will directly contribute to the advancement of the energy transition.
• You will be responsible for the design and implementation of robust, event-driven architectures, leveraging technologies like Go and Kafka to support a wide array of product domains. This includes developing high-quality APIs and intricate data integrations that seamlessly connect our platform to physical devices, external energy markets, and user interfaces.
• A key aspect of this role involves integrating cutting-edge LLMs and machine learning models into our backend services. This integration will be crucial for solving complex challenges, enhancing our Generative AI infrastructure, and unlocking new levels of efficiency and intelligence within our platform.
• We embrace a philosophy of end-to-end ownership. You will take full responsibility for the services you develop, from the initial conceptualization and design phases, through rigorous testing and deployment, to ensuring long-term observability and maintenance. This holistic approach ensures accountability and fosters a deep understanding of the systems you build.
• Furthermore, you will be tasked with designing and implementing automation solutions that deliver tangible business value. This involves a pragmatic approach to selecting the right tools for the job, which may include workflow engines such as n8n and low-code platforms like Airtable, in addition to custom-coded solutions.
• We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering, as these skill sets are highly valued and directly applicable to this role. Your expertise in these areas will be crucial for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our platform.
• Our tech stack is modern and forward-thinking, featuring GoLang and Laravel for backend development, Python, PyTorch, and LLMs for machine learning, React, Tailwind, and Shadcn for the frontend, and Flutter for mobile applications. General tools include Azure, GitHub, Linear, Notion, Kafka, Benthos for data pipelines, n8n and Kestra for workflow orchestration, and various low-code process automation platforms.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in high-performance environments, such as top-tier consulting firms, fast-scaling startups, or equivalent settings.
• Proven track record of taking end-to-end responsibility for software engineering or infrastructure (DevOps) projects, from initial ideation through to release.
• Strong academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in Go or a similar backend programming language, with a strong understanding of event-driven architectures and a pragmatic approach to automation.
• Experience with or strong aptitude for integrating LLMs and machine learning models into backend services.
• Fluent in English; German language skills are considered a plus.
