📋 Description
- • A Mid-Senior 3D Character Artist at Thatgamecompany will create expressive, stylized 3D characters and cosmetics that align with the artistic vision of Sky, contributing to emotionally resonant player experiences.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include modeling and skinning character assets in Maya, collaborating with concept artists, designers, and engineers, prototyping ideas during early design phases, reviewing and fixing asset bugs, and supporting the broader 3D team in delivering high-quality character work.
- • The role is part of a mission-driven art team at Thatgamecompany, known for crafting meaningful, aesthetically rich games that emphasize connection and emotion, working in a remote-first environment across the US.
- • The artist will deepen expertise in character creation pipelines, refine skills in industry-standard tools like ZBrush and Substance Painter, contribute to team knowledge through documentation, and grow within a culture that values inclusion, creativity, and artistic integrity.
🎯 Requirements
- • Online portfolio demonstrating character art skills
- • 3+ years of experience as a 3D Character Artist at a game studio
- • Proficient modeling skills in Maya or equivalent
- • Understanding of Industry Standard Software such as Photoshop, ZBrush, and Texture Creation/Material Editing (Substance Painter/Unity)
- • Familiarity with Maya rigging/skinning
- • Self-motivated, humble, and a team player
