📋 Description

• As a 3D Tutor at xAI Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s mission to develop AI systems that understand the universe by creating high-fidelity 3D content that enhances Grok’s visual understanding capabilities. Your work will directly contribute to training multimodal AI models through visually rich, technically precise assets that bridge the gap between synthetic data and real-world perception.
• You will use industry-standard 3D software such as Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, or Cinema 4D to model, texture, light, rig, and animate assets including characters, environments, and props according to project specifications, ensuring all deliverables meet xAI’s bar for technical excellence and artistic quality.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities will include interpreting project briefs from technical leads, iterating on 3D designs based on feedback, optimizing assets for render readiness and performance, and maintaining consistent naming conventions and file organization to support seamless integration into AI training pipelines.
• You will collaborate closely with xAI’s engineering and research teams to understand the specific visual needs of Grok’s training data, translating abstract AI requirements into concrete 3D scenes that test and improve the model’s spatial reasoning, object recognition, and scene understanding.
• You will produce clean, render-ready outputs with proper UV mapping, material setups, and animation curves, ensuring compatibility with real-time rendering pipelines and procedural generation systems where applicable, while adhering to strict quality benchmarks for lighting, composition, and topological correctness.
• You will document your workflow and share insights with teammates, leveraging your strong communication skills to articulate technical decisions and artistic choices clearly, fostering knowledge transfer in xAI’s flat, initiative-driven organizational structure.

🎯 Requirements

• Portfolio demonstrating excellence in 3D work, including game assets, animations, architectural visualizations, or VFX shots, hosted on a personal website, ArtStation, Sketchfab, YouTube, or Vimeo.
• Strong proficiency in modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging, and animation using industry-standard 3D software.
• Experience setting up 3D environments and animating cameras to achieve cinematic or technical visualization goals.
• Ability to produce clean, render-ready outputs that meet specification, with attention to topology, UVs, materials, and frame consistency.
• Strong communication and analytical skills, with excellent written and verbal English proficiency.
• Familiarity with PBR workflows, real-time rendering pipelines, or procedural generation techniques is preferred.
• Python coding skills are a nice-to-have for automating tasks or integrating with AI pipelines.
