Accounting Controller (Remote)

📋 Description

• • Responsible for all accounting functions including revenue recognition, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, general ledger, fixed assets, and audit preparation.
• • Direct and supervise a large accounting team through proactive management, coaching, and development of employee growth opportunities.
• • Lead the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely preparation and review of journal entries, accurate recording of all incurred costs, and completion of account reconciliations.
• • Perform variance analysis across financial statement line items, investigate anomalies, correct errors, and identify root causes to implement corrective actions.
• • Collaborate with budget owners and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely month-end close and internal financial reporting, including revenue recognition and lease accounting.
• • Develop, review, and implement accounting policies, procedures, and operational strategies to enhance financial controls and compliance.
• • Drive continuous process improvements by leveraging digital technology and supporting enhancements to the ERP platform to ensure system integrity and financial effectiveness.
• • Partner with external auditors to ensure successful audit outcomes and full regulatory compliance.
• • Define, track, and maintain departmental KPIs to measure performance and operational efficiency.
• • Ensure strict adherence to internal control policies and GAAP accounting standards, particularly regarding revenue recognition, lease accounting, and asset capitalization.
• • Assist in the compilation of data and documentation required for tax return preparation.
• • Perform other corporate finance projects and duties as assigned by management.
• • Apply advanced analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights clearly through written and oral reporting.
• • Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, adaptability, and ability to manage conflicting priorities under pressure while meeting strict deadlines.
• • Maintain advanced proficiency in Excel and leverage technology to improve accuracy and efficiency in accounting workflows.
• • Work with a "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment with frequent interruptions and moderate noise levels.
• • Operate in a hybrid model based in San Diego, CA, with potential for occasional travel by car or airplane to other locations.
• • Work may require off-shift, weekend, or overtime hours as needed to meet business demands.
