📋 Description

• Take full ownership of daily accounting operations and ensure the integrity of financial records across multiple entities and currencies, including crypto.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger with accuracy and timeliness, ensuring monthly closure of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Process and post all supplier payments, bank transactions, and reconcile bank statements in multiple currencies across different legal entities.
• Manage inter-company accounting activities, including the reconciliation of inter-company balances and ensuring alignment across entities.
• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in compliance with Maltese tax regulations and deadlines.
• Review and prepare compliance documentation for Corporation Tax submissions and other statutory reporting requirements.
• Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including accurate calculation and posting of monthly depreciation entries.
• Assist in the preparation of consolidated monthly management accounts and provide financial analysis support to the Finance Director.
• Support external audits by compiling audit schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and resolving identified discrepancies.
• Collaborate with the external Business Central Support Team to optimize system functionality and develop enhanced financial reporting capabilities.
• Oversee the posting of supplier invoices and conduct regular reconciliations of supplier statements.
• Supervise and mentor a Finance Assistant, delegating tasks, reviewing work for accuracy, and ensuring adherence to company policies and accounting standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in accounting workflows by identifying inefficiencies and implementing process enhancements.
• Work closely with the broader finance team and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure financial data transparency and operational alignment.
• Deliver standard and ad hoc financial reports to support strategic decision-making across the organization.
• Ensure all accounting activities comply with international financial reporting standards and local regulatory requirements in Malta and other jurisdictions.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all financial documentation and reporting outputs.
• Act as the primary point of contact for accounting-related inquiries from internal teams and external auditors.
• Manage the accounting function independently while operating within a globally distributed finance team structure.
• Adapt accounting processes to support rapid business growth and expansion into emerging markets with complex regulatory environments.
• Leverage technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Business Central to automate repetitive tasks and improve reporting accuracy.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills when resolving reconciliation discrepancies, timing differences, or system inconsistencies.
• Communicate financial information clearly and professionally to non-finance stakeholders across departments and regions.

🎯 Requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA / CPA or equivalent) or in final stages of qualification
• Proven experience in a senior accounting role within a complex, multi-entity business environment
• Strong knowledge of VAT submissions and tax reporting, specifically in Malta
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Business Central accounting software
• Ability to work independently and take full ownership of the accounting function
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
