📋 Description

• The Accounts Payable Manager, Direct role at OpenAI is critical to ensuring responsible, compliant, and efficient spending in support of the company’s mission to advance artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity.
• The role involves owning end-to-end accounts payable operations for Direct Procurement and Supply Chain, including invoice intake, 2/3-way matching, exception handling, disbursements, supplier inquiries, and month-end close activities, while serving as the primary escalation point for complex payment issues.
• The Accounts Payable team operates within OpenAI’s Procurement organization, partnering closely with Accounting, Finance, and business stakeholders to deliver a scalable, high-integrity payment experience in a fast-growing, AI-driven environment.
• The individual will drive process improvements, automation, and AI-enabled workflows across ERP and procurement systems, build scalable AP foundations, enhance controls and compliance (including SOX), and improve supplier and stakeholder experience through ownership of metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience supporting direct spend or supply chain in high-growth environments, with ability to manage high-volume workflows while building scalable processes.
• Hands-on expertise in accounts payable operations and systems, including ERP and procurement tools (e.g., Oracle Fusion, Zip, Navan, VNDLY, Brightflag, Jira), with willingness to engage in queue work, resolve mismatches, support accruals, and close activities.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience supporting cross-functional partners and handling executive or VIP escalations.
• Process and controls mindset, with experience improving workflows, driving automation, and ensuring audit readiness and compliance (e.g., SOX-aligned approvals, segregation of duties).
