We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Full Stack Engineer to play a pivotal role in this exciting transition. This individual will be instrumental in bridging our established core systems with cutting-edge AI services, acting as the primary developer responsible for bringing our new AI capabilities directly to our users. While our dedicated Machine Learning team focuses on developing the core intelligence in Python, your mission will be to craft the user experience that makes this intelligence accessible and impactful.
• • In this role, you will be the architect of the React frontends that users directly interact with, ensuring an intuitive, engaging, and seamless experience. Simultaneously, you will develop the Ruby backend logic that acts as the central orchestrator, managing the flow of data between our existing core platform and our new, innovative AI microservices. • • Your responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of full-stack development, with a particular emphasis on integrating AI functionalities into our user-facing applications. You will be tasked with building interactive AI interfaces, developing rich, responsive React UIs specifically designed for our new conversational features. This will involve managing complex frontend states, including the implementation of streaming text responses akin to advanced AI chatbots, ensuring real-time updates are reflected accurately, and creating interactive data visualizations that bring insights to life.
• • A key aspect of your role will be orchestrating these AI integrations. You will write the crucial Ruby code that serves as the essential "glue" connecting our core application with external Python AI services. This involves ensuring secure, efficient, and reliable data hand-offs between systems and expertly handling asynchronous job processing to maintain application responsiveness.
• • You will also be instrumental in architecting for latency. Recognizing that AI models can sometimes introduce delays, your focus will be on ensuring that the user interface remains exceptionally smooth and responsive. This will involve implementing advanced techniques such as optimistic UI updates, robust loading states, and leveraging WebSocket or ActionCable connections to maintain a fluid and engaging user experience, even when dealing with computationally intensive AI processes.
• • Beyond new feature development, you will play a vital role in maintaining and scaling our core platform. While actively shipping new AI-powered features, you will continue to uphold and enhance the health and performance of our existing Ruby on Rails codebase. Your efforts will ensure that our core system can effectively scale and handle the increased demands introduced by heavy AI workloads, guaranteeing stability and reliability.
• • Collaboration will be a cornerstone of your work. You will work closely with our talented ML Engineers to define and refine the API contracts, including JSON schemas, necessary for seamless integration of your frontend features with the AI models. This cross-functional partnership is critical for delivering a cohesive and powerful product.
• • We are looking for a "Product-First" Engineer who possesses a deep understanding and passion for user interaction. You recognize that even the most sophisticated AI model is rendered ineffective if the user interface is cumbersome or if users are subjected to prolonged loading times. Your technical expertise will be guided by a strong user-centric perspective.
• • While your primary strengths lie in Ruby and React, you should be "Polyglot-Curious" – comfortable and willing to explore Python code to gain a comprehensive understanding of the APIs you are consuming. This curiosity fosters better integration and problem-solving.
• • You must be a State Management Expert, particularly in understanding the complexities of "Chat" UIs. You will know how to effectively manage conversation history, implement optimistic updates for a responsive feel, and handle streaming data on the frontend with proficiency.
