- • Examine insurance policies and related records to determine coverage eligibility for property and casualty claims.
- • Interview, telephone, and correspond with claimants and witnesses to gather detailed information regarding claims.
- • Consult police reports, hospital records, and inspect property damage to assess the extent of the company’s liability and apply appropriate investigation methods based on claim type.
- • Estimate the cost of repair, replacement, or compensation for damaged property or injuries.
- • Prepare comprehensive reports documenting findings and negotiate settlements directly with claimants.
- • Recommend litigation to the legal department when a settlement cannot be reached through negotiation.
- • Attend litigation hearings as required to support legal proceedings related to claims.
- • Revise case reserves in assigned claims files to accurately reflect probable future costs.
- • Assist in preparing loss experience reports to help determine profitability and calculate adequate future insurance rates.
- • Perform additional duties as assigned, including supporting organizational quality programs.
- • Travel as required to inspect property, meet with claimants, or attend hearings.
- • Maintain strong oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with claimants, witnesses, and internal teams.
- • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products and other PC-based systems for documentation and reporting.
- • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all claim-related activities and documentation.
- • Apply strong customer service skills to manage claimant interactions with professionalism and empathy.
- • Utilize interpersonal skills to build rapport and resolve disputes during settlement negotiations.
- • Maintain high attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of claim handling and documentation.
- • Manage time effectively and maintain strong organizational skills to handle multiple claims simultaneously.
- • Work independently or collaboratively within a team environment to meet departmental goals.
- • Meet or exceed established Performance Competencies as defined by the organization.
- • Obtain IIA-AIC designation within 12 to 18 months of hire.
- • Maintain an active state adjuster license as required by jurisdictional regulations.
