We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on leader with an exceptional eye for detail to scale this team from its current size to 30 individuals by the end of 2026. This leader will be instrumental in building both the talented personnel and the robust systems necessary to ensure world-class deployments within demanding customer environments.
- • As the AI Agent Deployment Engineering Manager, you will report directly to the Head of Deployment and will be responsible for leading and scaling Magical's AI Deployment Engineering team. This technical, customer-facing group is tasked with the critical responsibility of integrating our AI Agents seamlessly into customer environments. Your role will demand a blend of strategic leadership and deep operational involvement, requiring you to dive into the details daily. This includes meticulously reviewing workflow logic and agentic designs, troubleshooting complex issues directly, and expertly project-managing customer launches from inception to successful completion.
- • A significant part of your mandate will involve recruiting, onboarding, and nurturing the professional development of new AI Agent Engineers. You will be instrumental in creating and refining systems, templates, and processes that enhance team efficiency and predictability, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery. Your ownership will encompass both the successful delivery of deployments and the unwavering maintenance of quality standards. The ultimate goal is to ensure that customers go live swiftly, reliably, and experience the unparalleled, 'Magical' touch in every interaction.
- • Key responsibilities include driving the growth of the AI Agent Engineering team, scaling it from 8 to 25 members by the end of 2026. This involves actively recruiting, hiring, and onboarding top-tier talent possessing strong backgrounds in engineering, quality assurance, or testing. You will foster a culture deeply rooted in ownership, precision, and an unwavering commitment to customer success. Establishing clear performance management frameworks, leveling structures, and defined expectations will be crucial for team development and alignment.
- • You will oversee the end-to-end process of designing, building, testing, and launching sophisticated agentic workflows, with a particular focus on healthcare and payer-provider customers. To set the benchmark for quality and manage expectations effectively, you will remain hands-on with builds during the initial phases. Ensuring that all deployments consistently meet stringent reliability, latency, and quality standards is paramount.
- • Operational excellence is a cornerstone of this role. You will build and implement rigorous systems for project management, quality assurance, review cycles, and comprehensive documentation. The creation of reusable components, standardized templates, and efficient tooling will be key to dramatically accelerating future build times. A primary objective is to reduce deployment timelines from weeks to mere days through strategic process improvements and standardization.
- • Effective customer and stakeholder management is vital. You will serve as the senior escalation point for any complex customer issues that arise. Direct engagement with customer engineering teams, product managers, and operational leaders will be a regular part of your responsibilities. Setting clear expectations, communicating proactively, and confidently managing timelines will be essential for building trust and ensuring project success. Furthermore, you will play a critical role in channeling real-world deployment learnings back into the Product and Engineering teams to drive continuous platform improvement.
- • Raising the quality bar is a continuous endeavor. This involves implementing detailed workflow and logic reviews with unwavering consistency. You will champion best practices in agentic design, rigorous testing methodologies, and performance tuning. The ultimate aim is to ensure that every deployment is not only robust and maintainable but also truly production-grade, delivering exceptional value and reliability to our customers.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience managing a team of 20+ technical individual contributors (e.g., pods, squads, distributed groups).
- • Obsessive attention to detail with a meticulous approach to reviewing logic, workflows, and customer experience.
- • Hands-on operator comfortable working in the technical details, not just at a strategic level.
- • Demonstrated commitment to quality, precision, and customer satisfaction, particularly in high-stakes or regulated environments like healthcare.
- • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple complex deployments.
- • Strong technical foundation in engineering, QA, or testing, with the ability to understand and contribute to technical solutions.
