📋 Description

• As an AI Deployment Engineer for Messenger Integrations at OpenAI, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, effective, and scalable deployment of ChatGPT integrations with third-party messaging platforms, directly enabling developers and enterprises to maximize value from OpenAI’s models while maintaining high standards of trust, privacy, and user experience.
• Day to day, you will partner with external messenger app engineering and product teams to design and refine ChatGPT-powered experiences within chat interfaces, debug complex API and authentication issues across systems, build prototypes and integration guides to accelerate partner launches, translate privacy and data-handling requirements into technical plans, and collaborate cross-functionally with OpenAI’s product, engineering, legal, policy, and support teams to ensure launches are reliable and maintainable.
• You will join the Ecosystem team, which builds and scales third-party integrations around ChatGPT and Codex, working at the intersection of product, engineering, partnerships, safety, and go-to-market to create technically sound, trustworthy, and useful integrations that expand OpenAI’s reach across global messaging platforms.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in API integration, distributed systems debugging, product-minded engineering, and cross-cultural collaboration, while gaining visibility into how AI products are adapted for real-world consumer use — positioning you to influence OpenAI’s product roadmap and shape the future of conversational AI at scale.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong software engineering background with daily coding practice and experience building or deploying API integrations with external partners, including reasoning across client, backend, auth, privacy, reliability, and UX constraints.
• Proven ability to communicate clearly with engineers, product leaders, executives, and business stakeholders, translating ambiguous product ideas into concrete technical plans without over-specifying partner internals.
• Deep care for user trust, privacy, and product quality, particularly in sensitive communication surfaces, with comfort debugging distributed systems and narrowing broad performance issues into actionable hypotheses.
• Experience working on B2C consumer, social, or messaging products, and familiarity with OAuth/login flows, API rate limits, webviews, mobile release cycles, and partner launch operations.
• Ability to collaborate across APAC time zones and willingness to travel internationally roughly quarterly, sometimes for up to two weeks around major launch milestones.
