- • The AI Director is a senior, hands‑on software engineering leader responsible for transforming how software is designed, developed, tested, and delivered across a specific business vertical, partnering closely with the Vertical R&D Leader to define and execute AI‑driven strategies that target 2x–3x gains in software development efficiency while maintaining or improving quality, security, and maintainability.
- • Day to day, the AI Director acts as a hands‑on developer, architect, and technical problem solver within software teams, designing and building AI‑enabled tools, frameworks, and workflows that integrate into existing development environments, establishing success metrics to measure impact on developer throughput, cycle time, and quality outcomes, and leading by example through contributions to production code, prototypes, proofs of concept, and internal tooling.
- • The role operates within Fullsteam Operations, LLC, a leading provider of vertical software and embedded payments technology with over 1,900 employees dedicated to helping small and medium-sized businesses flourish through seamless customer experiences, innovation, and best-in-class software and payment solutions across numerous industries.
- • The AI Director can achieve significant impact by driving measurable improvements in engineering productivity, influencing technical practices without direct authority, mentoring teams on responsible AI use, and contributing to a cross‑vertical community of AI leaders to share learnings and reusable solutions that accelerate innovation across the organization.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong hands‑on software development background with significant experience building and delivering production systems with engineering teams
- • Proven experience working in vertical‑market or domain‑specific software environments
- • Demonstrated ability to influence engineering practices without direct authority
- • Deep understanding of modern software development lifecycles, architectures, and tooling
- • Practical experience applying AI or advanced automation to improve developer productivity and software quality
- • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and organizational boundaries
