📋 Description

• Design, develop, and ship production-grade backend features using AI tools like Claude to accelerate development workflows, including code generation, boilerplate automation, and scaffolding—while maintaining rigorous code review standards.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers, Designers, and QA teams to define requirements, scope features, and deliver seamless user experiences across Deel’s global HR and payroll platform supporting 150+ countries.
• Build and deploy AI-powered products, workflows, and agents from discovery to production, contributing technical input throughout the full Software Development Lifecycle including architecture, design, deployment, and monitoring.
• Write clean, maintainable, and scalable backend code using Node.js or Python, applying design patterns, conventions, and best practices with fluency and consistency.
• Design, optimize, and maintain database schemas using PostgreSQL and ORM libraries such as Sequelize or TypeORM; write efficient SQL and NoSQL queries, perform performance tuning, and ensure data integrity at scale.
• Own features end-to-end: from initial design and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, iteration, and incident response, ensuring reliability and performance under high-traffic conditions.
• Debug and resolve production issues rapidly, proactively identifying root causes and implementing fixes while adhering to Deel’s quality and operational standards.
• Communicate technical constraints, trade-offs, and solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders through written and verbal means, including documentation, Slack updates, and cross-functional meetings.
• Work effectively in a fully remote, globally distributed team using async communication practices; proactively share context, status updates, blockers, and decisions to keep teams aligned across time zones.
• Ensure adherence to information security best practices for secure coding, data handling, and compliance with global regulations, protecting sensitive employee and employer data.
• Optimize infrastructure costs and resource utilization, minimizing waste in compute, storage, and team velocity while maximizing output and system efficiency.
• Take personal accountability for service excellence by owning the quality and reliability of deployed features, including rapid response to outages, performance bottlenecks, and customer-reported issues.
• Review and validate all AI-generated code critically before shipping, distinguishing between appropriate AI assistance and scenarios requiring manual implementation for correctness, security, or scalability.
• Follow Deel’s established processes for code reviews, testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and operational responsibility to maintain platform stability and compliance across global jurisdictions.
• Translate ambiguous product requirements into clear technical solutions, unblocking teams by providing precise guidance and actionable debugging insights.

🎯 Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a Backend/Software Engineer with proven experience shipping real AI products and debugging production issues at scale.
• Experience developing with Node.js or Python; ability to write clean, maintainable code using established patterns and conventions.
• Demonstrated experience using Claude or similar AI coding tools to accelerate development and shipping production features.
• Strong proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL and ORM libraries such as Sequelize or TypeORM.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven success in async, remote collaboration across global teams.
• Adherence to security best practices, compliance standards, and company systems for code review, testing, and deployment.
