📋 Description

• Lead a cross-functional engineering team of 6-10 professionals, balancing hands-on technical work with strategic leadership in AI development.
• Design, code, and deliver scalable, high-quality applications using modern tech stacks such as Node.js, Python, or similar languages.
• Integrate and leverage AI/LLM capabilities within production applications, including RAG systems, prompt engineering, and agent orchestration.
• Ensure technical excellence through rigorous code reviews, adherence to best practices in testing and deployment, and maintenance of clean, testable, and maintainable codebases.
• Drive the development of AI-powered features from concept to production, addressing LLM behavior, non-determinism, cost optimization, and hallucination detection.
• Apply strong software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented programming principles and design of scalable, distributed systems.
• Write complex SQL queries from scratch and optimize data access patterns with deep understanding of query performance and data structures.
• Debug and manage integrations across APIs and distributed services, ensuring robust data flow and system interactions.
• Analyze operational and user data to derive actionable insights that inform product and engineering decisions.
• Conduct root cause analysis across code, data, and system layers to resolve production incidents and escalate issues appropriately.
• Collaborate closely with product and design teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions that deliver exceptional user experiences.
• Lead technical planning and execution, balancing short-term feature delivery with long-term system health and scalability.
• Promote Agile methodologies to enhance team productivity, iterate rapidly, and continuously improve engineering workflows.
• Mentor engineers on AI/LLM technologies, software design, and coding best practices to foster skill development and team growth.
• Actively participate in hiring, onboarding, and scaling engineering talent aligned with company values and technical standards.
• Manage performance cycles, deliver structured feedback, and support the professional advancement of team members.
• Cultivate a culture of collaboration, inclusion, continuous learning, and engineering excellence across the team.
• Represent the engineering team in cross-functional discussions, aligning technical priorities with business objectives and advocating for technical health.
• Push back on product decisions when necessary, presenting data-driven arguments to prioritize scalability, maintainability, and long-term architectural integrity.
• Resolve complex, multi-team technical challenges by facilitating collaboration across disciplines and ensuring shared objectives are met.
• Communicate technical risks, opportunities, and solutions effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Prototype and iterate on AI-driven solutions rapidly to test hypotheses and validate product-market fit in a startup-like environment.
• Implement technical strategies aligned with Deel’s goal of enabling global work infrastructure, supporting workers in 150+ countries.
• Maintain production system reliability by handling incidents, managing escalations, and ensuring resilient system architecture.
• Contribute to innovation by leveraging AI-augmented development workflows to accelerate engineering velocity and product quality.

🎯 Requirements

• Hands-on experience with AI tools, LLMs, or AI-augmented development workflows
• Proven ability to integrate or leverage AI capabilities within production applications
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and scalable system design
• Strong SQL skills with ability to write complex queries and optimize performance
• Experience working with APIs and distributed systems, including debugging integrations
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing 6-10 engineers in a product-focused environment
