Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join the Procurement & Supply Chain team at Hitachi Rail for an 8–12-month AI Internship that places you at the epicenter of digital transformation. You will work side-by-side with procurement strategists, data scientists, and enterprise architects to re-imagine how billions of dollars in global spend are sourced, negotiated, and managed.
- • Own the end-to-end life-cycle of AI prototypes—from opportunity mapping to production rollout. You will interview buyers, category managers, and suppliers to surface pain points, then translate those insights into user stories and technical specs for chatbots, document-intelligence pipelines, and predictive cost models.
- • Build and customize AI micro-services in Python, leveraging OpenAI, Azure Cognitive Services, and TensorFlow to automate repetitive tasks such as PO validation, three-way-match exception handling, and vendor risk scoring. Your code will plug directly into SAP Ariba, Oracle Fusion, and Power BI via RESTful APIs and Power Automate flows.
- • Run rigorous A/B tests and performance benchmarks to prove ROI. You will define KPIs (cycle-time reduction, touchless-order rate, forecast accuracy) and create dashboards that allow leadership to track value realization in real time.
- • Champion data governance and ethical AI. You will cleanse and label procurement datasets, apply bias-detection techniques, and ensure GDPR/CCPA compliance before any model reaches production.
- • Author crisp documentation—architecture diagrams, run-books, and interactive user guides—so that procurement analysts in Toronto, London, and Tokyo can operate your tools without hand-holding.
- • Present findings in the monthly “AI in Procurement” community of practice and at the Intern Showcase graduation ceremony. Past interns have seen their projects adopted globally and cited in Gartner case studies.
- • Expand your network through structured mentorship: a dedicated buddy from the Procurement CoE, weekly 1:1s with the Director of Digital Supply Chain, and fireside chats with Hitachi’s Executive Committee during monthly “Ask Me Anything” sessions.
- • Immerse yourself in an inclusive, multicultural workplace where 52 nationalities collaborate across 38 countries. Whether you’re debugging code over Slack at 9 p.m. or brainstorming supplier-risk algorithms over coffee in Scarborough, you will feel the pulse of a truly global enterprise.
- • Leave with a portfolio piece that hiring managers covet: a live AI solution that has already saved real money, plus glowing references from senior leaders who will happily endorse your next career move.
