📋 Description

• Lead the strategic vision and execution of all technical documentation at Mistral AI, ensuring alignment with product roadmaps, engineering priorities, and enterprise customer needs.
• Build, recruit, mentor, and manage a team of technical writers, setting clear goals, priorities, and development paths to foster high-performing documentation output.
• Collaborate directly with Product, Engineering, and Support teams to embed documentation into the development lifecycle using a "docs-as-code" approach.
• Define and enforce standardized guidelines for tone, structure, accessibility, and formatting across all documentation assets including APIs, SDKs, tutorials, release notes, FAQs, and installation guides.
• Optimize documentation workflows using modern tools such as Markdown, Git, Docusaurus, Sphinx, and headless CMS platforms to enable scalable, maintainable, and reusable content.
• Identify gaps in existing documentation and propose innovative solutions such as interactive guides, AI-powered help systems, or chatbot integrations to enhance user experience.
• Track and analyze documentation effectiveness through metrics including user feedback, support ticket volume, page views, bounce rates, and resolution timelines.
• Drive localization efforts for global audiences, ensuring accuracy and cultural relevance across multilingual documentation assets.
• Stay current with industry trends in technical communication, including AI-assisted writing, UX writing, dynamic content personalization, and accessibility standards.
• Benchmark Mistral’s documentation against leading open-source and SaaS platforms to identify best practices and implement continuous improvements.
• Advocate for end-users in technical and product discussions, ensuring documentation reflects real-world use cases and pain points.
• Provide training and guidance to cross-functional teams on documentation standards, tools, and processes to promote organizational-wide adoption of best practices.
• Work closely with Engineering to ensure documentation remains accurate and up-to-date through integration with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing workflows.
• Deliver clear, precise, and adaptable content for both technical audiences (developers, researchers) and non-technical stakeholders (enterprise buyers, partners).
• Participate in technical reviews, sprint planning, and product design sessions to ensure documentation is considered from the earliest stages of development.
• Promote a culture of documentation excellence by establishing metrics, feedback loops, and recognition systems within the team and across departments.
• Contribute to the evolution of Mistral’s AI platform by ensuring documentation supports seamless adoption, onboarding, and troubleshooting for users worldwide.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years in technical writing or developer education, with 4+ years leading teams or defining documentation strategies
• Proven experience developing scalable documentation strategies for AI, SaaS, or complex software products
• Proficiency in Markdown, Git, and technical documentation tools such as Docusaurus or Sphinx
• Fluent English (primary working language); French is a bonus
• Strong leadership experience managing technical writing teams
• Experience collaborating with engineering and product teams in fast-paced environments
