📋 Description

• As an AI Research Scientist at Sword Health, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s mission to transform healthcare through AI-first solutions, directly contributing to the development of intelligent systems that improve patient outcomes and reduce global healthcare costs by leveraging cutting-edge machine learning and clinical validation.
• You will design, develop, and optimize novel AI models for multimodal health data (including movement, speech, and physiological signals) to enhance the AI Care platform’s ability to deliver personalized, evidence-based interventions across pain, women’s health, movement, and mental health domains.
• Your day-to-day work will involve conducting rigorous experimentation with deep learning architectures, transformer-based models, and self-supervised learning techniques to improve the accuracy, robustness, and clinical relevance of AI-driven health assessments and recommendations.
• You will collaborate closely with clinical experts, data engineers, and product teams to translate research findings into production-ready features, ensuring models are not only scientifically sound but also scalable, interpretable, and compliant with healthcare regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA.
• A significant part of your role will include publishing research in top-tier venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, MICCAI, JAMA Network Open) and contributing to Sword Health’s growing portfolio of patents and clinical studies, reinforcing the company’s position as a leader in AI-driven healthcare innovation.
• You will mentor junior researchers and contribute to a culture of scientific rigor and innovation by participating in journal clubs, internal tech talks, and cross-functional research sprints that foster continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

🎯 Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field with a strong focus on deep learning, time-series analysis, or multimodal AI.
• Proven track record of publishing peer-reviewed research in top AI/ML or healthcare AI venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, MICCAI, IEEE TMI, Nature Digital Medicine).
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow, including model optimization, distributed training, and deployment of large-scale models in production environments.
• Strong background in processing and modeling biomedical signals (e.g., EMG, IMU, ECG, audio) or clinical time-series data, preferably in the context of rehabilitation, movement analysis, or mental health.
• Experience working with clinical partners or IRB-approved studies, and familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR) and privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA).
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clinicians and product managers.
