• As an AI Tutor specializing in Cryptocurrency, you will play a pivotal role in elevating xAI's cutting-edge AI models. Your primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality annotations, expert evaluations, and detailed reasoning using our proprietary labeling tools. You will collaborate closely with our technical teams to develop and refine novel AI tasks, with a particular emphasis on the intricate world of cryptocurrency and digital assets. Your deep domain expertise will be instrumental in identifying, dissecting, and solving complex problems within quantitative crypto strategies. This includes, but is not limited to, in-depth on-chain analysis, understanding DeFi protocols, navigating perpetual futures and derivatives trading, identifying cross-exchange arbitrage opportunities, analyzing market microstructure in fragmented venues, optimizing MEV-aware execution, developing machine learning models for crypto alpha signals, and managing portfolios and risk in highly volatile, 24/7 markets. The role demands sharp quantitative acumen, the agility to adapt rapidly to evolving instructions, and the capacity to deliver precise, technically robust critiques and solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic landscape.
• You will directly contribute to xAI's mission by meticulously training and refining our advanced AI models. This involves teaching the models how quantitative crypto traders approach blockchain data analysis, model tokenomics, evaluate on-chain flows, manage extreme volatility, exploit market inefficiencies across both centralized and decentralized exchanges, and reason through emerging digital asset paradigms. Your contributions will manifest in generating high-quality data across text, voice, and video formats. This includes creating detailed annotations, providing critical evaluations of model outputs, developing step-by-step reasoning traces for complex problems, offering audio explanations of sophisticated trading strategies, and occasionally participating in structured video sessions. We are actively seeking enthusiastic individuals to engage in these core data-generation activities, driving forward xAI’s objectives in scientific discovery and complex system reasoning.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve utilizing our proprietary software to deliver accurate labels, rankings, critiques, and comprehensive solutions for assigned projects. You will be expected to consistently produce high-quality, curated data that adheres to rigorous technical and domain-specific standards. A key aspect of the role is partnering with engineers and researchers to iterate on new training tasks, refine evaluation frameworks, and develop crypto-specific benchmarks. You will also provide valuable, actionable feedback to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and overall usability of our annotation and data-collection interfaces. Furthermore, you will be tasked with identifying and solving challenging problems within the crypto and digital asset domains where your expertise is strongest. This includes areas such as on-chain metrics analysis for alpha generation, DeFi yield farming and impermanent loss modeling, cross-exchange arbitrage, perpetual futures strategies, market microstructure analysis, machine learning for price prediction, tokenomics evaluation, and portfolio optimization in high-volatility markets. You will also provide rigorous critiques of model outputs, alternative quantitative approaches, mathematical derivations, code snippets, and detailed crypto reasoning traces. Finally, you will efficiently interpret, analyze, and complete tasks based on detailed, and often evolving, guidelines, ensuring the integrity and quality of the data generated.

🎯 Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in a quantitative discipline (Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Computer Science with crypto/blockchain focus, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Operations Research, Data Science) or equivalent professional experience as a quantitative crypto trader, systematic strategist, or on-chain analyst.
• Superior written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to produce technical papers, explanatory breakdowns, and professional correspondence.
• Extensive hands-on familiarity with a wide array of crypto data sources and tools, such as CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap, Dune Analytics, Glassnode, Nansen, Chainalysis, Messari, DefiLlama, The Graph, blockchain explorers, CEX APIs, and various on-chain datasets.
• Outstanding analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to exercise sound judgment even when faced with incomplete information.
• A strong passion for cryptocurrency markets, blockchain technology, decentralized finance, quantitative methods, and the application of frontier AI in digital assets.

• Competitive hourly compensation ranging from $45/hour to $100/hour for US-based candidates, commensurate with experience, skills, education, location, and qualifications.
• For eligible U.S. based positions, benefits may include health insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave. Specific details will be provided during the interview process.
• Remote work flexibility, allowing the role to be performed from any location worldwide, subject to legal eligibility and time-zone compatibility. Contractor positions offer full flexibility in setting hours and determining time needed to complete deliverables, with an average expectation of at least 10 hours per week for effective project completion.
