đź“‹ Description

  • • As an Analytics Engineering Manager at Kin Insurance, you will be at the forefront of transforming raw data into actionable insights, driving a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization. This pivotal role involves owning the strategic direction and operational excellence of our semantic layer and Business Intelligence (BI) platform, Looker, ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and usability of our enterprise-wide analytics.
  • • You will be instrumental in building and nurturing trust in our data by establishing clear, consistent, and reliable metrics and definitions. This involves close collaboration with our Data Engineering team to influence dimensional model design and advocate for best practices that underpin robust downstream analytics. Your expertise will guide the evolution of our data architecture to support both complex enterprise reporting and agile, self-service analytics for various business units.
  • • A core responsibility will be the administration and optimization of the Looker platform. This includes managing user permissions, ensuring optimal platform performance, overseeing the content lifecycle, and establishing rigorous development standards. You will be the guardian of our semantic layer, ensuring its simplicity, consistency, and long-term durability, making it a trusted source of truth for the entire company.
  • • You will partner proactively with stakeholders across all departments – from Marketing and Sales to Product and Operations – to understand their analytical needs. By aligning on shared metrics and definitions, you will guide them through complex data concepts, helping them leverage data effectively to achieve their strategic objectives. This involves translating business requirements into technical specifications and ensuring that the data solutions we build directly address their challenges and opportunities.
  • • A significant part of this role is the development and growth of a high-performing Analytics Engineering team. You will be responsible for hiring, mentoring, and leading a group of talented analytics engineers. Your leadership will foster their technical growth in areas like data modeling, semantic design, and stakeholder engagement, empowering them to deliver exceptional results and contribute to Kin's overall success.
  • • You will oversee the meticulous care, development, and ongoing reliability of Kin’s critical dashboards and reports. This ensures that our leadership and operational teams have access to accurate and timely information to monitor performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions. Furthermore, you will champion and enable self-service analytics by developing curated datasets, reusable metrics, comprehensive documentation, and lightweight guardrails, empowering business users to explore data independently and efficiently.
  • • Success in this role will be measured by the tangible improvements in our data ecosystem: a clearly defined and robust BI semantic layer, enhanced self-service capabilities that empower users, improved performance and reliability of all reporting and dashboards, and the growth of a skilled and effective analytics engineering team. You will be a key driver in elevating Kin's data maturity, enabling us to innovate faster, serve our customers better, and achieve our ambitious business goals.
  • • This is an opportunity to blend technical leadership with strategic vision, shaping the future of analytics at a rapidly growing, innovative company. You will have the autonomy to define best practices, implement cutting-edge solutions, and build a world-class analytics function that directly impacts Kin's mission to simplify and improve homeowners insurance.
  • • You will also be responsible for developing and implementing new analytics and reporting solutions that address emerging business needs and unlock new opportunities for growth and efficiency. This includes staying abreast of industry trends and technologies to ensure Kin remains at the forefront of data utilization.
  • • Your ability to influence upstream data design, even without direct ownership of ingestion or platform operations, will be crucial. You'll act as a critical bridge between data engineering and business stakeholders, ensuring that the foundational data models are optimized for analytical consumption and business meaning.
  • • The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and the intricacies of building scalable and maintainable semantic layers. You are adept at translating complex business logic into clear, concise data models and are passionate about empowering others through data.
  • • This role requires a unique blend of technical prowess, strategic thinking, and exceptional interpersonal skills. You will be a trusted advisor, a technical leader, and a team builder, all contributing to Kin's mission of revolutionizing the homeowners insurance industry through data and technology.
