As an Android Engineer at Urban Sports Club (now part of Wellhub), you will own the end-to-end development of features that help millions of members discover, book and check-in to 97,000+ fitness partners in 18 countries. Every line of code you ship directly impacts how easily a user can start a yoga session in Berlin, join a HIIT class in Barcelona or unwind with a spa day in Vienna.
• • Join a truly remote-first Tech Hub based in Valencia, Spain, where cross-functional squads of Android, iOS, Backend, Product and UX experts collaborate in short, focused cycles. You will sit at the intersection of product vision and technical execution, translating ambitious road-maps into elegant Kotlin solutions that scale to 39,000 corporate clients and beyond.
• • Architect, build and refine our flagship Android application using modern MVVM, Jetpack Compose and Coroutines. You will design clean, testable modules that separate business logic from UI concerns, enabling rapid experimentation and A/B testing without compromising stability or performance.
• • Drive innovation in our real-time check-in experience. You will integrate NFC, QR and geofencing technologies to reduce friction at partner venues, cut queue times and give users instant confirmation that their session counts toward their membership goals.
• • Champion code quality and reliability across the Android chapter. Through rigorous unit, integration and UI tests (JUnit, Espresso, MockK) you will maintain >80% coverage, enforce architectural guidelines and participate in weekly mob-programming sessions where knowledge is shared freely.
• • Optimise app performance for a diverse device landscape—from high-end flagships to low-cost Android Go phones. You will profile memory, CPU and network usage, implement lazy loading and image caching strategies, and ensure cold-start times stay under two seconds even on patchy 3G connections.
• • Collaborate with backend engineers to design GraphQL queries and RESTful endpoints that deliver personalised recommendations and dynamic pricing. You will negotiate contracts, version APIs gracefully and ensure offline-first capabilities so users can browse classes on the metro without losing context.
• • Instrument everything. Using Firebase, Amplitude and custom dashboards you will track feature adoption, funnel drop-offs and crash-free sessions. Data-driven retros every sprint help you decide whether to double-down, pivot or sunset a feature.
• • Mentor junior developers and level-up the entire Android discipline. You will run internal tech talks on advanced Kotlin features, conduct compassionate code reviews and maintain a living style-guide that keeps our codebase consistent as the team grows.
• • Stay on the cutting edge. You will prototype Jetpack Glance widgets, explore Wear OS integrations for workout tracking and evaluate emerging Google technologies that could give Urban Sports Club members new superpowers—like booking a class directly from their watch or TV.
• • Embrace a culture of ownership and psychological safety. Whether you’re debating architecture in an RFC, white-boarding user flows with UX or presenting OKR results to leadership, your voice is valued and your ideas can become reality within weeks, not quarters.
