- • Direct a complex pharmaceutical product category including Brands, Generics, and Specialty drugs, with full accountability for sales, market share, and profitability outcomes across all customer segments.
- • Develop and execute comprehensive product category strategies aligned with organizational goals, leveraging deep industry expertise to drive growth and competitive advantage.
- • Lead all aspects of supplier relationship management, including business development, cost negotiations, distribution agreements, and negotiation of all business terms with key manufacturer partners.
- • Own financial performance of the category, including growth incentive/rebate programs, quarterly rebate ROI updates, supplier contribution, profitability metrics, and adherence to category budget targets.
- • Establish approval criteria and govern processes for new product submissions, ensuring accuracy in item data, web attributes, catalog copy, and regulatory compliance during supplier onboarding.
- • Drive successful new product launches by collaborating with suppliers to develop and execute promotional plans that maximize market impact and sales velocity.
- • Manage current product lines by setting product selection and pricing criteria, negotiating supplier buying deals, and ensuring accurate marketing classifications, item descriptions, and images across all platforms.
- • Maintain integrity of product content in A-system and e-commerce platforms, including SKU optimization and resolution of non-saleable inventory pools, while ensuring cost book accuracy.
- • Strategize and manage seasonal product offerings to meet customer demand, maximize profitability, and minimize inventory risk.
- • Own the layout, presentation, and timely updates of all category content across channel media and marketing platforms, resolving all related issues to ensure brand consistency and customer experience.
- • Apply expert understanding of P&L, financial metrics, and external market trends to inform strategic decision-making and drive business profitability.
- • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Product Category Managers and specialists, fostering high performance through coaching, motivation, and virtual team leadership.
- • Demonstrate expert-level negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution skills to manage complex internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- • Plan and execute complex projects with defined timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, while navigating organizational politics and influencing cross-functional teams.
- • Maintain broad knowledge of pharmaceutical industry practices, company policies, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
- • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required to support organizational objectives.
🎯 Requirements
- • 12+ years of increasing responsibility in product category management, with 5+ years in management roles
- • Proven expertise in pharmaceutical category management (Brands, Generics, Specialty drugs)
- • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing virtual teams
- • Expertise in financial analysis, P&L management, and supplier profitability modeling
- • Strong negotiation skills with experience managing manufacturer partnerships and distribution agreements
- • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred
