📋 Description

• Build and maintain production-grade Android applications using Kotlin for BJAK’s digital insurance and financial services platform.
• Design and implement intuitive, responsive mobile interfaces for insurance quoting, policy management, claims submission, and payment workflows.
• Integrate with backend RESTful APIs to enable core functionalities including real-time quotations, transaction processing, and customer account management.
• Contribute to mobile features powered by AI-assisted capabilities such as chat interfaces, personalized recommendations, and automated workflow triggers.
• Optimize application performance, memory usage, battery efficiency, and responsiveness across a wide range of Android devices.
• Implement and maintain analytics, crash reporting, and user behavior tracking systems to drive data-informed product improvements.
• Collaborate closely with backend engineers, product managers, UX designers, and AI/ML teams throughout the full development lifecycle.
• Ensure mobile systems meet high standards for stability, scalability, security, and maintainability in a production environment.
• Apply Android Jetpack components including ViewModel, Compose, and XML-based UI patterns to build modern, reusable UI components.
• Utilize Coroutines and Flow for efficient asynchronous programming and state management in complex mobile workflows.
• Improve app reliability by reducing crashes and production incidents through rigorous testing, code reviews, and observability practices.
• Evolve the mobile architecture to support long-term scalability, modularity, and maintainability across a growing user base.
• Ship features with strong engineering discipline, including automated testing, CI/CD integration, and systematic monitoring.
• Leverage on-device machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow Lite where applicable to enhance user experience with localized AI capabilities.
• Maintain and improve engineering standards by adopting mobile best practices, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.
• Take full ownership of features from concept through deployment and post-launch monitoring, ensuring alignment with product goals and user needs.
• Participate in a hybrid work model based in Malaysia, collaborating with a global engineering team across multiple time zones.
• Contribute to a culture of technical excellence, speed of execution, and practical decision-making focused on real user impact.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of Android development experience using Kotlin
• Proven experience shipping production Android applications
• Strong understanding of Android architecture components and modern development practices (Coroutines, Flow, Jetpack)
• Experience integrating RESTful APIs and working with distributed systems
• Familiarity with mobile performance tuning and debugging in production environments
• Strong ownership mindset with attention to detail and product quality
