📋 Description

• The API & Database Auditor at Moniepoint Inc. plays a critical role in safeguarding the integrity, security, and compliance of the company’s APIs and SQL-based database systems, ensuring that data access, processing, storage, and protection meet rigorous internal and regulatory standards across Africa’s leading financial ecosystem.
• Day to day, the auditor will conduct security and compliance audits of REST, GraphQL, and internal APIs; assess database security controls (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle); evaluate encryption, authentication, authorization, and secrets management practices; review data governance policies including classification, retention, and audit trails; assess backup, disaster recovery, and change management processes; and document findings with risk ratings and actionable remediation recommendations for engineering, security, and data governance teams.
• Moniepoint Inc. is Africa’s all-in-one financial ecosystem serving 10 million businesses and individuals, processing $22 billion monthly in transactions as Nigeria’s largest merchant acquirer, operating profitably while expanding access to payments, banking, credit, and business management tools since 2019.
• In this role, the auditor will deepen expertise in IT audit, API security, and database governance; gain exposure to global compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR); strengthen cross-functional collaboration with engineering and security teams; and develop the ability to translate technical risks into business impact while contributing to the resilience of a high-scale financial infrastructure.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in application security, database administration, software engineering, or IT audit.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and SQL-based databases.
• Experience reviewing authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys).
• Working knowledge of SQL querying and database security concepts.
• Proficiency with API documentation and testing tools (Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI).
