📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs to support internal and external customer-facing applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend developers, and DevOps teams to define API specifications, endpoints, and integration requirements.
• Implement RESTful and GraphQL APIs following industry best practices, including versioning, rate limiting, authentication, and authorization protocols.
• Write clean, well-documented code with comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure reliability and maintainability.
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior developers to uphold code quality and architectural standards.
• Optimize API performance through caching strategies, database query tuning, and efficient data serialization techniques.
• Monitor API health and usage via logging, metrics, and alerting tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Ensure all API systems comply with security standards, including OAuth2, JWT, TLS, and OWASP guidelines.
• Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives as part of an agile development team.
• Troubleshoot production incidents related to API functionality, latency, or connectivity and lead root cause analysis.
• Stay current with emerging API technologies, frameworks, and cloud-native patterns to recommend improvements and innovations.
• Work closely with third-party vendors and partners to integrate external services and ensure seamless data exchange.
• Document API endpoints, request/response formats, error codes, and usage examples for internal and external consumers.
• Support the deployment of API changes through CI/CD pipelines and ensure zero-downtime releases.
• Contribute to architectural decisions regarding microservices, service mesh, and API gateway implementations.
• Maintain compliance with federal and industry regulations applicable to government and enterprise clients.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience developing and deploying production-grade APIs
• Expertise in RESTful API design and implementation using Node.js, Python, or Java
• Proven experience with API gateways such as Kong, AWS API Gateway, or Apigee
