- • The Associate Director, Localization & ADA Compliance leads the enterprise function responsible for multilingual translation and accessibility across all member‑facing and internal communications, ensuring ADA‑compliant and accessible formats such as screen‑reader‑ready outputs, audio description, braille, and large‑print alternatives.
- • Day‑to‑day responsibilities include executing enterprise translation and localization strategies, governing translation memory and terminology assets, ensuring cultural and linguistic accuracy, leading ADA compliance operations aligned with WCAG 2.2, ADA, Section 508, and state requirements, overseeing production of accessible formats (braille, captions, transcripts, alt text), partnering with platform teams to embed requirements into SmartCOMM, OpenText/Dialogue, and AXP templates, managing workflows for translation intake and alternate‑format production, overseeing internal and external vendors, tracking performance metrics for continuous improvement, and leading and developing a team of localization and accessibility specialists.
- • The role is embedded within Communications Platform Operations & Production at Humana Inc., reporting to the director, and partners with platform and build teams to integrate accessibility and multilingual requirements into content models and workflows, advancing scalable, compliant, and inclusive communication practices that meet regulatory obligations and serve diverse populations.
- • In this role, the individual can develop deep expertise in enterprise‑scale localization and accessibility governance, lead cross‑functional initiatives in a highly regulated healthcare environment, drive continuous improvement in compliance outcomes and operational efficiency, and grow leadership experience managing teams and vendors while contributing to inclusive communication practices that impact millions of members.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Communications, Localization, Accessibility Studies, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- • 7+ years of professional experience in localization, multilingual content operations, accessibility, or alternative‑format delivery within enterprise or regulated environments.
- • 2+ years of people and vendor leadership experience, including direct team management and oversight of cross‑functional partners (e.g., Product, Legal, Compliance).
- • Demonstrated working application of ADA, WCAG (2.x), and Section 508 requirements within communication, digital, or document production workflows.
- • Hands‑on experience with translation management systems (e.g., Trados, Smartling, memoQ, Lokalise) and accessibility testing or remediation tools.
- • Proven experience supporting or scaling localization and accessibility programs across 10+ languages or markets, including governance, quality controls, and vendor performance management.
