📋 Description

  • As an Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Respiratory in the US, you will be a pivotal member of Viatris' Medical Affairs team, dedicated to advancing healthcare by providing credible, unbiased, and scientifically accurate information about Viatris' respiratory assets, medicines, and related disease states.
  • Your primary focus will be engaging with external stakeholders, including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Healthcare Providers (HCPs), academic institutions, patient advocacy groups, and other members of the healthcare community. This engagement will be strictly non-promotional, truthful, and non-misleading, ensuring the safe and effective use of Viatris' medicines.
  • You will act as an extension of the Medical Affairs team in the field, leveraging your specialized experience and training to discuss complex scientific and clinical issues related to respiratory therapies.
  • A core responsibility is to develop, execute, and continuously adapt independent US MSL Stakeholder Engagement Plans for target KOLs/HCPs. These plans will be developed in close alignment with the US Respiratory MSL Team Lead and the US Respiratory Medical Lead, ensuring strategic coherence and effectiveness.
  • You will be responsible for understanding the medical education needs of KOLs/HCPs, staying informed about competitor medical affairs educational offerings, and aligning KOL selection with overarching company strategy.
  • A key aspect of the role involves identifying and communicating internally the activities of rival Medical Affairs organizations engaging with your target KOLs/HCPs. This intelligence gathering is crucial for strategic planning and competitive positioning.
  • You will also be tasked with identifying and communicating unmet medical education needs of target KOLs/HCPs, facilitating the sharing of difficult concepts and fostering collaborative discussions to explore different perspectives.
  • A significant part of your role will be to partner with the US Respiratory Medical Portfolio Lead (MPL) to develop innovative, non-promotional, proactive, and reactive medical education materials. These materials, which may include slide decks and videos, should uniquely address the unmet educational needs of target KOLs/HCPs and differentiate from competitor offerings.
  • You will gather and communicate internal KOL insights related to independent US Medical and/or overarching company objectives and strategies. This feedback loop is essential for informing the advancement of Viatris' medical and corporate strategies.
  • The role requires you to develop and communicate internal Ad Board, Congress, and Customer Insight Reports, providing valuable summaries of external interactions and market intelligence.
  • You will represent Viatris by staffing independent Medical Affairs booths at congresses and conventions, serving as a scientific expert and engaging with attendees.
  • You will provide training to internal Viatris functions on products and disease states, utilizing materials approved by the Medical Review Committee (MRC) or the Viatris Promotional Material Approval Process (VMap), as requested by Commercial teams.
  • A fundamental requirement is 100% compliance with all Company policies and procedures, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), federal and state laws, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, health authority regulations, and departmental processes.
  • You will be expected to continuously improve your skills and abilities, develop your medical expertise, and cultivate strategic leadership qualities.
  • Operational excellence is key, involving the improvement of operational efficiency and effectiveness, and ensuring alignment of medical activities with overarching company strategy.
  • You will respond to Unsolicited Medical Requests (UMRs) from HCPs or other external stakeholders with reactive medical communications, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination.
  • You will document all HCP interactions meticulously in VEEVA, maintaining a comprehensive record of engagement.
  • You are expected to submit expense reports and PTO/vacation requests in a timely manner.
  • The position functions semi-autonomously, with no direct supervisory responsibilities, reporting to the US Respiratory MSL Team Lead.
  • This is a US Remote position requiring extensive travel (75%-80% of time), potentially including overnight stays and weekend travel, alongside leveraging remote participation tools. The geographical territory may change over time.
  • You will be required to reside within your assigned US geographical territory, which could be the Central (NM, TX, OK, CO, KS, WY, NE, SD, ND, MT) or Pacific West (AZ, CA, NV, UT, OR, ID, WA, AK, HI) regions. Preferable home-cities for Central are Denver, Dallas, or Kansas City, and for Pacific West are Los Angeles or San Francisco.
  • You will play a crucial role in Viatris' mission to provide access to high-quality medicines, advance sustainable operations, and foster partnerships to connect people with essential healthcare products and services, ultimately empowering people worldwide to live healthier lives at every stage.
  • Your ability to actively listen for insights, draw implications for Viatris, and drive personal accountability will be critical to success in this role.
  • Embracing the principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is expected and valued within the Viatris team.
  • You will be a key contributor to Viatris' commitment to making a difference in the lives of others through innovative healthcare solutions.
