- • Join Newlands Law Group, a distinguished plaintiffs' personal injury law firm renowned for its specialization in the litigation and trial of complex catastrophic injury cases. We are actively seeking a motivated and driven Associate to become an integral part of our dedicated team.
- • This role is exceptionally suited for a junior lawyer with 0-5 years of experience, particularly those with a background in personal injury or general litigation. However, we strongly emphasize that prior experience is not a prerequisite if a candidate possesses an exceptional work ethic, a keen aptitude for learning, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
- • What truly sets this Associate position apart is the unparalleled opportunity it presents for a very junior lawyer to gain immediate, hands-on experience in litigating and trying multi-million-dollar cases. We believe in immersive learning and will provide you with the challenging environment needed to rapidly develop your skills.
- • You will be 'thrown in the deep end' and meticulously taught how to navigate the complexities of high-stakes litigation. Our mentorship approach is designed to accelerate your growth, ensuring you quickly evolve into a seasoned and highly experienced complex catastrophic personal injury lawyer.
- • At Newlands Law Group, we foster an environment where talent and hard work are directly rewarded. There is no ceiling to your earning potential; your compensation will be directly commensurate with the value and financial success you generate for the firm.
- • This is more than just a job; it's a career-defining opportunity to hone your legal acumen in a supportive yet demanding setting. You will be exposed to all facets of case management, from initial client intake and investigation through discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and ultimately, trial.
- • Your responsibilities will be diverse and challenging, including but not limited to:
- • Conducting thorough factual investigations and legal research to build strong case foundations.
- • Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
- • Taking and defending depositions, developing critical examination and cross-examination skills.
- • Engaging in strategic settlement negotiations with opposing counsel and insurance adjusters.
- • Preparing for and participating in mediations and arbitrations.
- • Assisting in trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, and jury selection.
- • Potentially second-chairing or even leading trials, depending on your progress and the case needs.
- • We are looking for individuals who are not afraid to take initiative, possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, and have a genuine passion for advocating for injured individuals.
- • The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach to learning, a meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- • You will work closely with senior attorneys, benefiting from their extensive experience and guidance, while simultaneously being empowered to take ownership of your caseload.
- • Our firm prides itself on its collaborative culture and commitment to client success. You will be part of a team that is passionate about achieving justice for our clients and is dedicated to providing the highest level of legal representation.
- • If the prospect of diving headfirst into challenging litigation, receiving unparalleled mentorship, and having your compensation directly tied to your performance excites you, then Newlands Law Group is the place for you.
- • We are committed to fostering the next generation of leading personal injury litigators, and this role is a testament to that commitment. We look forward to meeting candidates who are eager to embrace this challenge and contribute to our firm's continued success.
- • This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility in your work schedule. While constant communication with the team is essential, you will have the autonomy to structure your own hours to maximize productivity and work-life balance.
- • The position requires you to reside no more than one hour from either Sarasota or Tampa, ensuring occasional in-person collaboration or court appearances when necessary.
🎯 Requirements
- • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- • Admission to the Florida Bar (or eligibility for admission via reciprocity or the ability to obtain a limited license for in-house counsel if applicable, though active bar membership is preferred).
- • 0-5 years of legal experience, with a strong preference for personal injury or litigation experience, though not strictly required if aptitude and work ethic are demonstrated.
- • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal arguments clearly and persuasively.
- • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- • High degree of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- • Proactive, self-motivated, and a demonstrated strong work ethic.
- • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote team environment.
- • Must reside within a one-hour driving distance of Sarasota, Florida, or Tampa, Florida.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive base salary starting at $75,000, with significant potential for uncapped annual bonuses.
- • Uncapped annual bonus structure designed to reward performance and exceed annual salary, directly tied to the financial success generated for the firm.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, available after 90 days of employment.
- • 401(k) retirement savings plan with company matching contributions.
- • Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO) policy, with a required minimum to ensure work-life balance and prevent burnout.
- • Fully remote work environment offering flexibility and autonomy in managing your schedule.
