- • Serve as a key contributor to the global payroll operations team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation across multiple European jurisdictions.
- • Collaborate with HR, finance, and local legal teams to maintain compliance with national labor laws, tax regulations, and social security requirements in Portugal and other EU countries where Trustly operates.
- • Verify and reconcile payroll data from multiple sources including time tracking systems, HRIS platforms, and benefit providers to ensure 100% accuracy in gross-to-net calculations.
- • Process payroll cycles on a bi-weekly or monthly basis, depending on local statutory requirements, and ensure all payments are disbursed on schedule with full auditability.
- • Identify, investigate, and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and tax withholding errors in a timely and professional manner.
- • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving payroll legislation across EU member states and proactively update internal procedures to reflect regulatory changes.
- • Support the implementation and optimization of payroll automation tools and integrations to improve efficiency, reduce manual errors, and enhance data integrity.
- • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to internal stakeholders, including finance, department heads, and regional managers, with clear breakdowns of labor costs, deductions, and tax liabilities.
- • Assist in annual payroll audits and government reporting submissions, including but not limited to social security filings, wage reports, and year-end tax documentation.
- • Act as a trusted point of contact for employees regarding payroll-related questions, including payslip interpretation, tax code updates, and benefit deductions.
- • Work closely with external payroll service providers and vendors to ensure service level agreements are met and service quality remains at the highest standard.
- • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by documenting processes, identifying bottlenecks, and proposing scalable solutions for growing international payroll needs.
- • Participate in cross-functional projects related to HR system migrations, global compensation benchmarking, and payroll system integrations with ERP platforms.
- • Ensure all payroll activities adhere to Trustly’s internal controls, data privacy policies, and GDPR compliance standards.
- • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee compensation data and handle sensitive information with the highest level of discretion.
- • Support the onboarding of new international hires by coordinating with local payroll providers to ensure accurate setup of tax profiles, bank details, and benefit enrollments.
- • Track and monitor payroll-related KPIs such as processing accuracy rates, cycle times, and employee satisfaction scores to drive performance improvements.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience in payroll processing within a multinational or EU-based environment
- • In-depth knowledge of Portuguese and broader EU payroll regulations, tax codes, and social security systems
- • Proficiency in HRIS and payroll software systems (e.g., SAP, Workday, ADP, or similar)
- • Strong attention to detail with a track record of zero-error payroll execution
- • Ability to manage multiple payroll cycles across different jurisdictions simultaneously
- • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with employees, HR, and finance teams
