- • Lead and inspire high-performing assurance teams across Canada’s public sector and not-for-profit landscape, delivering audits that directly strengthen the financial integrity of municipalities, provincial ministries, federal agencies, foundations, and charities that serve millions of Canadians.
- • Own the full lifecycle of complex engagements—from risk assessment and planning through to final reporting—ensuring every financial statement, note disclosure, and management letter reflects the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance under PSAS and ASNPO frameworks.
- • Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of influential clients, maintaining year-round dialogue to anticipate emerging issues, interpret new legislation, and position RSM as the indispensable strategic advisor that helps each organization safeguard public funds and advance its mission.
- • Translate technical accounting and auditing concepts into clear, actionable insights for elected officials, board members, and senior public servants, enabling them to make informed decisions that impact policy, programs, and community outcomes.
- • Design and execute risk-based audit programs that leverage data analytics, automated workflows, and RSM’s proprietary methodology to drive efficiency, reduce disruption to client operations, and uncover insights that go beyond compliance to add measurable value.
- • Coach and mentor a diverse bench of Senior Associates and Supervisors, providing real-time feedback, career road-mapping, and targeted training that accelerates their progression from technical executors to confident, client-ready advisors.
- • Monitor engagement economics in real time—tracking budgets, billable hours, and realization rates—to protect profitability while ensuring that scope, quality, and client expectations remain perfectly aligned.
- • Champion continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements, technology upgrades, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that elevate the firm’s public sector assurance brand and differentiate RSM in a competitive marketplace.
- • Build and nurture an external network of Centers of Influence—regulators, industry associations, academics, and peer firms—to generate referrals, thought-leadership opportunities, and new revenue streams that expand RSM’s market share.
- • Contribute to firm-wide strategy by participating in national assurance committees, co-authoring whitepapers and alerts on emerging PSAS and ASNPO changes, and presenting at conferences that shape the future of public sector accountability.
- • Stay ahead of the curve through ongoing CPD, active subscription to industry publications, and proactive sharing of relevant updates with clients and internal teams, ensuring that every engagement reflects the latest in GAAP, GAAS, and regulatory guidance.
- • Travel up to 25% of the year (primarily within Canada) to conduct fieldwork, lead client workshops, and represent RSM at sector events, all while enjoying the flexibility of a remote-eligible work environment that empowers you to balance professional excellence with personal priorities.
