Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Design, implement, and optimize real-time state estimation and control algorithms for UAVs to enable precise localization and stability during dynamic flight operations.
- • Develop sensor fusion algorithms including EKFs and factor graphs to integrate data from multiple onboard sensors for accurate state estimation in challenging environments.
- • Implement control loops on embedded processors with strict computational constraints to ensure system resiliency and real-time performance.
- • Validate algorithm performance through simulation, log replay, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and real-world flight testing across diverse operational conditions.
- • Collaborate closely with navigation, embedded software, and hardware engineering teams to integrate state estimation and control systems into production UAV platforms.
- • Contribute to the technical strategy and evolution of the autonomy stack as systems scale, ensuring best practices in algorithm design and system architecture.
- • Improve the reliability and redundancy of autonomous flight systems with a focus on safety-critical operational requirements for public safety applications.
- • Work directly with field-deployed drone systems used by over 600 public safety agencies to enhance 911 response capabilities through real-time visual data delivery.
- • Participate in the full lifecycle of algorithm development—from research and prototyping to deployment and iterative improvement based on operational feedback.
- • Ensure all autonomy software meets the demands of mission-critical public safety use cases, prioritizing robustness, predictability, and fail-safe behavior.
- • Maintain and extend existing codebases written in C++ and Python, optimizing for low-latency execution on embedded hardware platforms.
- • Document algorithm design decisions, performance metrics, and integration protocols to support team-wide knowledge sharing and regulatory readiness.
- • Engage with cross-functional teams to align autonomy system capabilities with hardware constraints, sensor configurations, and mission-specific operational needs.
- • Contribute to the development of safety-critical software practices aligned with industry standards for autonomous systems in public safety contexts.
