📋 Description

• As a Backend Crypto Engineer - L1 at Kraken, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that enables secure, timely processing of cryptocurrency transactions across deposits, withdrawals, and staking, directly protecting client funds and advancing Kraken’s mission of open finance.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities include integrating Kraken’s systems with new blockchains, designing and implementing low-latency, high-availability, and secure applications, writing scalable and efficient code in TypeScript (Node.js) and/or Rust, optimizing database schemas, and owning the development and maintenance of existing crypto services.
• You will join Kraken’s dedicated Crypto team within Payward, a global leader in financial infrastructure with over 15 years of experience building modern, accessible systems for an open financial ecosystem, where innovation, security, and technical excellence are paramount.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in blockchain integration, cryptographic security, and distributed systems while contributing to high-impact projects that shape the future of decentralized finance, with opportunities to work with cutting-edge tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Temporal, and Git in a collaborative, merit-driven environment.

🎯 Requirements

• At least 3 years of backend development experience
• Proficiency in Typescript (Node.js) and/or Rust
• Deep understanding of cryptographic concepts and scalable application design
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Temporal and GNU/Linux environments
• Proficiency in code versioning tools (Git) and experience with automated testing frameworks
• Strong AI proficiency is highly desirable
