Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect and deliver robust, high-performance backend services that power SupplyHouse.com’s industry-leading e-commerce platform serving HVAC, plumbing, heating, and electrical professionals across North America. Your code will directly impact millions of dollars in daily transactions and thousands of real-time inventory updates.
- • Own the full development lifecycle—from requirements gathering with product managers and UX designers to writing clean, testable code, deploying via CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring production health. You’ll use modern JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js) and Python to build RESTful and GraphQL APIs that scale horizontally and handle seasonal traffic spikes.
- • Design and optimize relational and NoSQL data models in PostgreSQL, Redis, and DynamoDB to ensure millisecond-level query performance for catalog search, pricing engines, and order management workflows. You’ll implement caching strategies, indexing best practices, and data-migration scripts that keep our platform fast and reliable.
- • Build and extend internal tools that automate fulfillment, procurement, and customer-service processes. Recent projects include a real-time warehouse orchestration service that reduced picking errors by 18 % and a dynamic pricing engine that increased margin by 3 % during peak season.
- • Champion code quality and engineering standards by conducting thorough pull-request reviews, writing unit/integration tests with >80 % coverage, and evangelizing clean architecture patterns (SOLID, DDD). You’ll mentor junior developers and lead brown-bag sessions on topics like event-driven design and performance tuning.
- • Collaborate daily with a globally distributed team—product owners in New York, DevOps in Texas, and QA in India—using Slack, Jira, and GitHub. You’ll participate in agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retros) and contribute to technical roadmaps that align with quarterly OKRs.
- • Ensure 99.9 % uptime by implementing observability best practices: structured logging, distributed tracing, and alerting via Datadog/New Relic. You’ll join a rotating on-call schedule (one week every 6–8 weeks) and conduct blameless post-mortems to continuously improve system resilience.
- • Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies—such as serverless functions, event streaming (Kafka), and container orchestration (Kubernetes)—and running proof-of-concepts that could reduce infrastructure costs or accelerate feature delivery.
- • Translate complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions. For example, you might refactor a monolithic checkout service into microservices to support new B2B features, or integrate third-party tax-calculation APIs to comply with evolving regulations.
- • Contribute to a culture of generosity, respect, innovation, teamwork, and GRIT by sharing knowledge, celebrating wins, and supporting teammates across time zones. Your voice will shape not only the codebase but also the inclusive, people-first culture that defines SupplyHouse.com.
