📋 Description

• As a Backend Engineer at BespokeLabs Inc., you will own the execution layer beneath our RL environments, building the systems that allow agents to operate inside realistic, multi-tool worlds for hours or days with reliability and coherence.
• Day to day, you will design and own sandboxing and execution layers, develop failure detection and rollback mechanisms, extend execution to long-horizon multi-node environments, optimize performance and cost at scale, profile and remove system bottlenecks, build observability for thousands of concurrent rollouts, create frameworks for environment specification and deployment, and scale prototypes into production with high engineering standards.
• You will join an applied AI research lab pioneering data and RL environment curation, uniquely positioned to capture a large share of the market through innovations like Open Thoughts dataset and Bespoke-MiniChart-7B models, working directly with frontier labs and enterprise customers.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, sandboxing technologies (namespaces, cgroups, gVisor/Firecracker), performance optimization at scale, and production infrastructure for AI agents, while gaining experience translating research needs into reliable systems and collaborating with top-tier AI research teams.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong track record building production systems or research infrastructure at scale in distributed systems, execution engines, or container/sandboxing infrastructure
• Deep comfort with systems layer technologies including containers and isolation (namespaces, cgroups, VMs, gVisor/Firecracker-style sandboxing), filesystems, and process/state management
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) and distributed computing, with experience in profiling, scheduling, resource utilization, and cost optimization at scale
