📋 Description

• As a Backend Engineer at Fathom Technologies Inc., you will play a critical role in improving the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of mission-critical services that power an AI-driven meeting assistant used by hundreds of thousands of users.
• Day to day, you will contribute to highly-scalable backend services (both stateless and stateful), analyze cost models for operational efficiency, lead development of new services such as Kubernetes operators or cloud storage caching layers, and collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to evolve architecture without introducing friction.
• Fathom is a remote-first, fast-growing startup that has built the #1 most used AI meeting assistant on HubSpot and Zoom, with perfect 5/5 ratings on G2 and widespread adoption across major platforms, all while upholding values like Care Deeply, Seek Leverage, and Sustain Urgency.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in Go and Kubernetes, gain experience scaling services handling hundreds of millions of async jobs weekly, influence technology and architecture decisions, and grow into a technical leader shaping foundational systems in a high-impact, low-bureaucracy environment.

🎯 Requirements

• Proficiency with k8s and Go, including strong understanding of garbage collection and profiling
• Familiarity with tech stack equivalents: GCP/GKE, Linux, Docker, Ruby/Rails, Redis, ffmpeg
• Experience in a SaaS or PaaS environment handling high volume (currently 100s of millions of async jobs per week)
• Curiosity-driven and pragmatic mindset with focus on delivering results
• Strong collaborative skills and ability to explain complex insights to technical and non-technical audiences
• Independence in managing workload and priorities
