- • As a Backend Engineer on PostHog's APM team, you will build the observability suite—Logs, Traces, and Metrics—that enables customers and their AI agents to understand, debug, and self-heal their software, forming the foundation for self-driving, self-healing products.
- • You will own product areas end-to-end from alpha to GA, making architecture decisions and shipping code in the hot path where your work directly impacts customer experience, while processing petabytes of telemetry data efficiently and reliably.
- • PostHog is a product-led, default-alive, well-funded company shipping an operating system for software builders, with over 100,000 companies using its open-source tools and a commitment to transparency, autonomy, shipping fast, time for building, ambition, and being weird.
- • You will work in a natively remote environment with async-first communication, meeting-free Tuesdays and Thursdays, and deep focus time, allowing you to ship impactful work without unnecessary coordination overhead.
🎯 Requirements
- • Experience with highly scalable, event-driven distributed systems
- • Strong expertise across the full data lifecycle at scale, including ingestion, cost-aware storage, and efficient retrieval where query and storage performance are critical
- • Proficiency with Node.JS, Go, Rust, or similar languages and hands-on experience with Kafka, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, Redis, or S3
- • Ability to take ambiguous, greenfield problems, frame them effectively, and drive solutions forward independently without hand-holding
- • Experience shipping changes quickly in multi-tenant SaaS environments without breaking systems
