- • As a Backend Engineer II at Octopus Energy Ltd., you will contribute to building and maintaining the core systems that power the company’s global energy services, including customer-facing platforms, tariff engines, and meter data processing, directly supporting the mission to deliver 100% renewable energy through innovative technology.
- • Day to day, you will design, develop, and deploy scalable backend services using modern programming languages and frameworks, collaborate with cross-functional teams across countries to implement time-of-use tariffs and customer engagement features like the 'wheel of fortune' for meter readings, write clean, testable code, participate in code reviews, and troubleshoot production issues in a fast-paced, agile environment.

🎯 Requirements
- • Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go
- • Experience building and maintaining scalable APIs and microservices
- • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes
- • Solid understanding of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) and data modeling
- • Ability to write clean, tested, and maintainable code with attention to performance and reliability
- • Experience working in agile teams with strong communication and collaboration skills
