- • As a Backend Senior Software Engineer on the Identity team at Vanta, you will lead and mentor engineers while delivering high-value products and infrastructure that enable the company to scale, directly supporting Vanta’s mission to help businesses earn and prove trust through continuous security monitoring and verification.
- • You will design identity primitives for autonomous agent behavior, lead complex multi-stakeholder projects, collaborate with Security on data protection best practices, support design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and drive initiatives to improve operational execution and technical sustainability across the platform.
- • You will join a kind, talented, and growing engineering team at Vanta that values collaboration, decisive action, and continuous learning, with opportunities to contribute to the company’s culture and technical direction as it scales globally.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, identity and access management, and platform scalability while making tangible impact on security-critical systems used by thousands of companies, and grow as a technical leader and mentor within a mission-driven organization.
🎯 Requirements
- • At least 8 years of industry experience with backend development
- • Strong knowledge of authentication protocols (OIDC, SAML) and identity federation concepts (SSO), or authorization frameworks (RBAC, policy-based access control)
- • Experience building platform services that scale across multiple teams
- • Strong data modeling skills for systems with complex relationships
- • Experience solving distributed systems challenges around performance and security
- • Success with complex technical migrations that maintain system stability
- • Security-focused mindset and understanding of enterprise security practices
- • Experience leading technical projects spanning months
- • Proven ability to mentor and collaborate with other engineers
- • Interest in contributing to Vanta's engineering culture and using AI responsibly to enhance productivity and judgment
