- • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems that power Kpler’s AI and agentic systems for global trade intelligence in commodities, energy, and maritime sectors.
- • Develop high-performance APIs and microservices that process and analyze vast volumes of structured and unstructured data from global shipping, trade, and logistics sources.
- • Collaborate with data scientists and AI engineers to integrate machine learning models into production-grade backend workflows for real-time decision-making.
- • Optimize data pipelines to ensure low-latency, high-throughput processing of maritime vessel tracking, cargo manifests, and trade flow datasets.
- • Implement robust authentication, authorization, and data governance protocols to secure sensitive commercial intelligence accessed by enterprise clients.
- • Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and sprint planning within cross-functional Agile teams focused on AI-driven product features.
- • Monitor system performance and reliability using observability tools, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks in backend services.
- • Contribute to the evolution of Kpler’s data infrastructure by adopting modern cloud-native technologies and containerized deployment practices.
- • Work closely with product managers to translate complex client requirements into technical specifications for AI-enabled trading insights.
- • Ensure code quality and maintainability through unit testing, integration testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- • Stay current with advancements in AI, agentic systems, and backend engineering to propose and implement innovative solutions that enhance platform capabilities.
- • Support production systems during critical market events by responding to incidents, performing root cause analysis, and implementing preventive measures.
- • Document system architecture, data flows, and API specifications to enable knowledge sharing across global engineering teams.
- • Engage in knowledge transfer and mentorship with junior engineers to foster a culture of technical excellence and collaborative growth.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience building scalable backend systems in production environments
- • Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or Node.js)
- • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- • Familiarity with data pipelines, message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and distributed systems
- • Experience working with AI/ML models in production or collaborating closely with data science teams
- • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, database design (SQL/NoSQL), and system scalability principles
