- • As the Backend Software Engineering Team Lead at Sportygroup B.V., you will drive the architecture, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions while leading a talented team of developers in the EU region. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, ensuring the team delivers scalable, reliable systems in a fast-paced, remote-first environment focused on sustainability and innovation.
- • You will lead and mentor a development team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture by providing technical guidance, conducting code reviews, managing performance and career development, and driving continuous improvement in processes, tools, and techniques. Your day-to-day includes participating in high-level architecture and design decisions, overseeing the full development lifecycle from requirements to deployment, and ensuring best practices in code quality, microservices, and system reliability.
- • You will work with a modern, cloud-native stack including Java 17, Spring Boot (Tomcat, Netty), Spring Data, Spring Cloud, microservices architecture, REST APIs, message queues (RocketMQ), databases (MySQL, MyBatis, MongoDB), caching (Redis, ElasticSearch), and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, AWS CloudWatch, OpenTracing) on Kubernetes and AWS, with CI/CD pipelines powered by Jenkins and ArgoCD.
- • The team operates within a remote-first, globally distributed model with core collaboration hours of 10am–3pm in your local time zone, emphasizing flexibility, autonomy, and sustainable work practices. 🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on backend technologies such as Java, Node.js, Python, or Go
- • 2+ years of experience in a leadership or mentoring role, including performance reviews, work allocation, and team development
- • Strong experience in software architecture and designing scalable, reliable systems using microservices, APIs, and cloud-native patterns
- • Hands-on expertise in backend development, particularly with Java and Spring Boot ecosystem, REST APIs, and message queuing systems
- • Excellent communication skills in English and proven ability to manage and collaborate effectively within a remote, diverse team
