Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Own the entire revenue cycle for Pennant’s Medi-Cal population—every claim you shepherd from creation to cash directly fuels high-quality home health, hospice, and senior living services across 14 states. You are the last line of defense before dollars become care.
  • • Drive accuracy at scale: perform final pre-bill audits on hundreds of claims weekly, spot variances down to the last HCPCS modifier, and route corrections to pre-bill staff with crystal-clear assignments that eliminate rework and speed cash flow.
  • • Master complex payer rules: maintain an encyclopedic command of Medi-Cal, Medicare, and commercial contracts; translate dense regulatory updates into plain-language SOPs that keep 200+ independent sites compliant with state, federal, and Joint Commission standards.
  • • Protect Pennant’s reputation and bottom line: negotiate directly with Medi-Cal fiscal intermediaries and third-party payers to overturn denials, reduce days in AR, and recover revenue that would otherwise be written off—your wins are celebrated company-wide through the Moments of Truth program.
  • • Architect data-driven strategies: mine the billing information system for KPIs (clean-claim rate, denial root cause, aged AR buckets) and present actionable insights to the Executive Leadership Team each month; your dashboards shape quarterly goal-setting and annual budgeting.
  • • Reconcile with precision: tie billing system outputs to the general ledger, match Medi-Cal quarterly reports to the penny, and prepare the annual Medicare cost report package so clean that external auditors simply sign off.
  • • Supervise cash controls: oversee daily cash-posting and bank deposits, enforce segregation-of-duties policies, and maintain an audit-ready trail that satisfies both internal risk management and surprise payer audits.
  • • Champion patient privacy: design and enforce HIPAA-compliant workflows, conduct quarterly access reviews, and train on-site teams so every PHI touch-point meets the highest ethical and legal standards.
  • • Cultivate relationships that accelerate payment: build trust with patients, families, referral sources, and payer reps through transparent communication and respectful problem-solving—your tact turns potential conflicts into collaborative wins.
  • • Elevate team capability: mentor pre-bill and collections staff via Pennant’s Learning Management System, deliver lunch-and-learn sessions on new Medi-Cal billing codes, and create quick-reference guides that reduce ramp-up time for new hires.
  • • Embrace autonomy within CAPLICO culture: take intelligent risks—pilot a robotic-process-automation bot for claim scrubbing, test a new denial-tracking dashboard—then celebrate the outcomes with peers who genuinely love one another and own results together.
  • • Continuously improve: every quarter, lead a Kaizen event to shave another day off the revenue cycle; your relentless curiosity keeps Pennant at the forefront of healthcare finance best practices.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)
  • • 3+ years of healthcare billing and collections management, with demonstrable Medi-Cal or Medicaid experience
  • • Expert-level knowledge of billing information systems and electronic claim submission workflows
  • • Deep understanding of Medicare, Medi-Cal, and Joint Commission regulations
  • • Proven ability to manage high-volume, detail-oriented work with diplomacy and discretion

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans with multiple tiers to fit every life stage
  • • 401(k) with generous company match and immediate vesting to secure your future faster
  • • 100% employer-funded life and disability insurance for peace of mind
  • • Unlimited access to Pennant’s Learning Management System—free e-courses, certifications, and live seminars to accelerate your career
  • • Remote-first flexibility so you can live where you thrive while still collaborating with a world-class Service Center team
