- • As a Business Intelligence Lead at Humana Inc., you will be instrumental in shaping the future of financial data and automation for CenterWell, a vital part of our organization dedicated to putting health first. This is a unique opportunity to lead the design, development, and ongoing governance of a sophisticated Finance data and automation platform that underpins critical financial reporting and analytics across CenterWell.
- • You will architect and implement robust, scalable data pipelines within Databricks, leveraging cutting-edge technologies like notebooks, jobs, and advanced orchestration techniques. These pipelines are the backbone of our financial operations, responsible for ingesting, transforming, and preparing vast amounts of Finance data from various enterprise sources.
- • The curated analytical datasets, meticulously prepared through your efforts, will be housed within our Snowflake and Databricks environments, providing a reliable and high-performance foundation for all financial insights.
- • A core aspect of your role will involve developing and maintaining sophisticated Finance data models, schemas, and curated reporting datasets. This requires a deep understanding of advanced SQL, coupled with the ability to harness the full capabilities of cloud data platforms to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and alignment with evolving reporting and analytics needs.
- • You will take ownership of the critical month-end financial data processes, including ingestion, transformation, snapshotting, and readiness checks. This involves operationalizing stable, governed, and automated close-cycle data workflows that are essential for meeting strict reporting timelines and ensuring the accuracy of financial validation.
- • A key objective is to significantly reduce manual effort and enhance the reliability of financial reporting through the automation of data preparation and transformation processes. This will ensure repeatable, efficient, and trustworthy reporting operations.
- • You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining standardized financial hierarchies, mappings, and metric definitions across all business lines. This critical work ensures consistency and comparability of reporting outputs, providing a unified view of financial performance.
- • Empowering our Finance teams is paramount. You will publish and govern curated datasets that enable Power BI reporting and facilitate self-service analytics for Finance professionals. This includes actively supporting the onboarding of new reporting domains onto the centralized platform, expanding its reach and utility.
- • Data integrity and trust are non-negotiable. You will implement rigorous data quality controls, validation checks, lineage tracking, and change management practices. These measures are crucial for ensuring the accuracy, auditability, and complete traceability of all financial data.
- • Collaboration is key to success. You will partner closely with leaders from the Finance Transformation Office, Reporting & Analytics, Accounting, FP&A, and enterprise data teams. Your role will be to translate complex Finance reporting requirements into scalable, enterprise-aligned data solutions.
- • As a technical leader, you will provide oversight for platform initiatives, manage vendor and offshore engineering support teams, and define the architectural standards, development patterns, and operational best practices for the Finance data platform. This leadership ensures the platform remains innovative, efficient, and aligned with Humana’s strategic goals.
- • This role demands a forward-thinking approach to data management, focusing on building a future-proof platform that supports Humana's commitment to putting health first and driving operational excellence within CenterWell.
- • You will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, exploring new technologies and methodologies to enhance data processing, analytics capabilities, and overall platform efficiency.
- • The ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be essential for driving alignment and adoption of the platform across the organization.
- • Your work will directly impact the accuracy and timeliness of financial insights, enabling better strategic decision-making and supporting Humana's mission to improve the health and well-being of its members.
- • This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere nationwide, with the expectation of aligning with Eastern Standard Time or Central Standard Time business hours.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Analytics, Finance, or a related field.
- • 6+ years of experience in data engineering, BI data architecture, or analytics platforms.
- • 3+ years of leadership experience leading data/BI engineering projects or platforms.
- • 2+ years of people leadership experience with direct reports.
- • Advanced SQL expertise for large-scale data transformation, modeling, and performance optimization.
- • Hands-on experience building data pipelines in Databricks (notebooks, jobs, workflows, and orchestration).
- • Experience designing and managing data models and databases in Snowflake and/or Databricks.
- • Experience with cloud data platforms and modern data engineering practices.
- • Experience operationalizing automated data workflows and reporting data preparation processes.
- • Experience supporting Finance or accounting data domains (GL, ERP, planning, reporting).
