📋 Description

• Identify and lead remediation of the highest-impact security risks across Canals’ production systems and infrastructure, ensuring end-to-end ownership of security outcomes.
• Own and maintain application security tooling for code scanning, dependency analysis, and secrets management to proactively prevent vulnerabilities.
• Lead threat modeling, risk assessments, and security architecture reviews for both new and existing services to embed security into the development lifecycle.
• Validate, prioritize, and triage security findings from external bug bounty programs and penetration tests, translating findings into actionable remediation plans.
• Lead security monitoring initiatives, including alert configuration, incident investigations, and post-incident follow-through to strengthen system resilience.
• Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code workflows to automate compliance and reduce manual overhead.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and operations teams to drive security adoption without impeding velocity in a fast-moving environment.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging threats, attack vectors, and security best practices relevant to SaaS platforms serving wholesale distribution industries.
• Contribute to the evolution of Canals’ security strategy by proposing and implementing scalable, pragmatic solutions that align with business growth and regulatory expectations.
• Ensure security practices are documented, measurable, and communicated clearly to non-security stakeholders to foster a culture of shared responsibility.
• Participate in on-call rotations for security incidents, providing timely response and resolution while minimizing customer impact.
• Work remotely within a distributed team across North and South America, collaborating asynchronously and synchronously to maintain alignment and momentum.
• Represent Canals’ security posture to customers and partners when required, ensuring trust and transparency in how data and systems are protected.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong security engineering background with hands-on experience securing production systems
• Ability to drive remediation across teams with clear priorities and follow-up
• Comfort taking ownership of deliverables and ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard
• Strong communication skills and comfort working remotely in a fast-moving, product-focused environment
• Experience integrating security into CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code workflows
• Previous experience in high-growth startups or small teams is a plus
