- • The Chief Operating Officer for Western Crops is a strategic leadership role within Manulife Agriculture Services, responsible for overseeing property operations to maximize ROI while ensuring safety, talent development, stakeholder satisfaction, and continuous improvement across permanent crop operations including nuts, wine grapes, citrus, apples, and cherries.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include leading workforce development through recruitment, training, and mentorship; driving operational excellence by overseeing multi-regional property operations, implementing efficiency initiatives, and promoting transparent KPI communication; managing financial planning via annual operating and capital budgets; building stakeholder relationships with clients, vendors, and partners; leading risk management and compliance efforts; guiding organizational planning and change management; and providing regular reporting to asset management and platform leadership teams.

🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience leading large teams in complex agricultural operations, particularly with permanent crops such as nuts, wine grapes, citrus, apples, and cherries.
- • Established network with market participants including industry boards, associations, processors, and crop consultants.
- • Strong knowledge of permanent crop management and marketing, including crop planning, budgeting (operational and capital), project execution, and investment reporting.
- • Advanced financial acumen with expertise in budgeting, cost analysis, and financial planning.
- • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with a focus on collaboration and conflict resolution.
- • Willingness to travel extensively (50% or more) to support multi-regional operations.
