Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Lead the design, development, and delivery of high-impact, evidence-based education programs for the entire Coding Team, Clinical Documentation Nurses, Physicians, and other licensed providers, ensuring every learner gains the knowledge and skills needed to elevate documentation quality and drive measurable performance improvements.
  • • Serve as the go-to subject-matter expert who translates complex coding guidelines, regulatory updates, and industry best practices into engaging, easy-to-consume learning experiences—ranging from interactive webinars and micro-learning modules to in-depth workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • • Partner directly with Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and senior clinical leaders across all regions to safeguard the integrity of the health record, aligning clinical documentation and coding practices with organizational quality, compliance, and revenue-cycle goals.
  • • Own the monthly monitoring and interpretation of the clinical dashboard, turning raw data into actionable insights; craft strategic education plans that target the root causes behind under-performing metrics and celebrate wins that demonstrate continuous improvement.
  • • Build and nurture cross-functional relationships with Compliance, Quality, Revenue Cycle, and IT teams to secure interdepartmental support, resources, and technology solutions that amplify the reach and effectiveness of every educational initiative.
  • • Conduct targeted audits and focused reviews at the request of leadership, using findings to refine curriculum content, update policies, and close knowledge gaps before they impact patient care or reimbursement.
  • • Create comprehensive onboarding pathways for new coding staff, blending self-paced e-learning, virtual shadowing, and competency assessments that shorten ramp-up time and instill confidence from day one.
  • • Develop innovative teaching tools—job aids, quick-reference cards, scenario-based simulations, and gamified quizzes—that reinforce best practices, promote retention, and foster a culture of continuous learning and curiosity.
  • • Translate dashboard trends and audit outcomes into clear, compelling narratives for executive stakeholders, illustrating how education investments translate into fewer denials, higher case-mix index, and improved patient outcome representation.
  • • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in all educational materials, ensuring content is culturally sensitive, accessible to varied learning styles, and compliant with ADA and Section 508 standards.
  • • Stay ahead of evolving CMS, AMA, and AHIMA guidance by participating in industry forums, obtaining advanced certifications, and integrating emerging technologies (AI-driven coding assistants, NLP analytics) into the curriculum.
  • • Measure program effectiveness through pre/post assessments, learner satisfaction surveys, and downstream KPIs such as query response rates, DRG accuracy, and physician documentation completeness scores; iterate relentlessly based on feedback.
  • • Foster a vibrant remote learning community via discussion boards, office hours, and peer mentoring circles that keep geographically dispersed teams connected, engaged, and inspired.
  • • Model NM’s mission, vision, and values in every interaction, upholding the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program while serving as a trusted advisor who elevates the professional reputation of the entire coding and CDI enterprise.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Current RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC credential with a minimum of five years of inpatient and outpatient coding experience in an acute-care setting.
  • • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering adult-learning education programs, including curriculum development, virtual facilitation, and measurable outcomes tracking.
  • • Advanced proficiency in Epic, 3M 360 Encompass, or equivalent encoder and CDI workflow platforms; comfort manipulating data in Excel, Tableau, or similar analytics tools.
  • • Deep knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, Official Coding Guidelines, CMS IPPS, and quality reporting programs (e.g., HCC, PSI, HAC).

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Fully remote, flexible schedule with no on-call requirements—work from anywhere in the U.S. while staying connected through cutting-edge collaboration technology.
  • • Annual professional-development stipend of $3,500 plus paid time to attend AHIMA, ACDIS, or other premier industry conferences and obtain advanced certifications.
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and mental-wellness coverage starting day one, plus employer-funded HSA contributions and 401(k) match up to 6%.
  • • Generous PTO package (25+ days) plus paid volunteer time and floating holidays to support work-life balance and community engagement.
