• • ThedaCare is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Coding Educator to join our team and contribute to our bold vision of reinventing healthcare. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of medical coding practices across our surgical specialties, directly impacting patient care and financial health. As a Coding Educator, you will be at the forefront of maintaining the highest standards of coding, providing essential training, and driving continuous improvement within the department.
• • Your primary responsibility will involve performing comprehensive coding reviews for surgical specialties, meticulously ensuring that all services rendered are accurately reflected using industry-standard methodologies such as CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS. You will be expected to adhere strictly to the Standards of Ethical Coding set forth by AAPC/AHIMA, as well as comply with all official coding guidelines and other regulatory requirements. This meticulous attention to detail is paramount in maintaining compliance and optimizing reimbursement.
• • A significant aspect of this role includes auditing medical record documentation. You will proactively identify opportunities for documentation improvement among our providers and team members, providing clear, constructive feedback and education to mitigate risks and enhance the quality of clinical documentation. This educational component is vital for fostering a culture of accurate and compliant coding throughout ThedaCare.
• • You will also play a key role in educating and training new team members, ensuring they are brought up to speed with department standards and best practices. This includes mentoring and observing existing team members, fostering a supportive learning environment, and ensuring consistent application of coding responsibilities. Your expertise will help shape the skills and knowledge of the coding team.
• • Managing and maintaining coding inventory responsibilities is another critical function. This involves diligently tracking and addressing payer denials and claim edits to ensure the timely and accurate reimbursement for services provided. You will be responsible for researching payer policies, communicating effectively with payers, and developing mitigation plans to reduce future risks identified through internal reviews or third-party data summaries.
• • The Coding Educator will be instrumental in performing internal reviews in response to third-party data summaries and/or investigations. Based on these reviews, you will be tasked with creating and implementing mitigation plans designed to reduce future coding-related risks. This proactive approach to risk management is essential for safeguarding the organization.

• • This position is a full-time, 40-hour per week role, based at our CIN 3 Neenah Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. The schedule is typically during the day, and the position is overtime exempt.
