📋 Description

  • Manage and execute high-impact communications programs for OpenAI’s presence in France and Southern Europe, aligning with global messaging while ensuring local relevance.
  • Localize global announcements, campaigns, and product narratives for French audiences, adapting tone, context, and media strategy to fit cultural and media landscapes.
  • Drive product communications across enterprise, developer, business, and mainstream consumer audiences, ensuring consistent and clear storytelling across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Support B2B and go-to-market communications by developing narratives around enterprise adoption, customer success stories, partner announcements, and industry-specific trends.
  • Proactively identify and pitch original stories showcasing how OpenAI’s technologies are being used by businesses, educators, creators, institutions, and developers in France and Southern Europe.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with French media outlets across technology, business, national, trade, consumer, and digital channels.
  • Manage day-to-day work with external PR and communications agencies, ensuring alignment with business priorities, product launches, and corporate objectives.
  • Draft, edit, and finalize communications materials including press releases, media pitches, briefing documents, talking points, and media plans in both French and English.
  • Prepare and coach internal spokespeople for media interviews, public events, panels, and other external communications opportunities.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, GTM, Global Affairs, Legal, Research, and other Communications teams to ensure coordinated and accurate messaging.
  • Monitor and analyze local media coverage, public sentiment, and emerging issues to identify communication opportunities and mitigate potential risks.
  • Help structure and accelerate communications workflows in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities and high visibility.
  • Translate complex AI technologies into accessible, compelling narratives for non-technical audiences without oversimplifying technical accuracy or ethical considerations.
  • Maintain strict adherence to OpenAI’s values and communication principles, particularly around safety, transparency, and responsible AI deployment.
  • Track and report on media impact, audience engagement, and campaign effectiveness using measurable metrics and qualitative insights.
  • Contribute to regional communications strategy by providing insights on local market dynamics, regulatory context, and public perception of AI in France and Southern Europe.
  • Ensure all communications materials comply with legal, regulatory, and brand guidelines across multiple jurisdictions in Southern Europe.
  • Represent OpenAI at industry events, media briefings, and stakeholder engagements in France and occasionally across Southern Europe.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AI developments, competitor activity, and media trends in the French and broader European tech landscape.
  • Support crisis communications readiness by helping prepare contingency plans and rapid-response protocols for high-profile or sensitive topics.
  • Operate with a hybrid work model, spending three days per week in the Paris office and collaborating closely with global communications teams.

🎯 Requirements

  • Strong experience in communications, media relations, or PR, preferably within the technology industry
  • Deep understanding of the French media landscape, including business, technology, national, and mainstream outlets
  • Fluency in both French and English, with excellent writing and editing skills in both languages
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences
  • Experience managing external agency partners and driving multi-channel communications workstreams
  • Sound judgment on sensitive or high-profile issues, with ability to escalate appropriately
