📋 Description

• DuckDuckGo is seeking a dedicated Compliance & Safety Specialist to join our remote-first team and play a pivotal role in upholding our mission to raise the standard of trust online. As a key member of the Law & Policy Functional Team, you will be instrumental in translating complex legal and regulatory mandates into actionable, day-to-day operational practices. This role is crucial for ensuring DuckDuckGo meets its global compliance and safety obligations, directly contributing to the integrity and trustworthiness of our products and services.
• In this dynamic position, you will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and legal departments to design, implement, and continuously refine workflows that govern content, online safety, and privacy compliance. Your responsibilities will span a variety of critical projects, including the development of cross-functional AI safety support processes. This will involve contributing to AI governance frameworks and defining the data labeling and metrics essential for evaluating our AI-driven products. You will also take the lead in managing and enhancing the Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) moderation workflow specifically for AI image uploads, ensuring a safe and compliant environment. Furthermore, you will be tasked with strengthening our overall privacy compliance program, ensuring adherence to evolving global standards.
• A significant aspect of this role involves taking end-to-end ownership of complex and often ambiguous operational challenges. You will be expected to translate evolving frameworks for online safety, artificial intelligence, and data privacy into practical, scalable processes and measurable metrics. 🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, audit, content moderation, trust & safety, or a similar role.
• 2+ years working in a role that involved exposure to sensitive issues and offensive/disturbing content.
• Tech experience and/or experience of Digital Regulation, with the ability to convert regulatory and policy requirements into pragmatic operational practices.
• Strong judgment in handling sensitive or ambiguous situations.
• Ability to manage multiple compliance or safety tasks concurrently while maintaining quality, accountability, and momentum.
• Comfortable working autonomously and in collaboration with team members cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment, taking guidance as needed from other members of the legal team.
