- • Lead the development and execution of APAC consumer and product communications strategy for OpenAI, aligning regional priorities with global narratives around products like ChatGPT and Codex.
- • Craft clear, accessible narratives that translate complex AI capabilities into relatable, everyday benefits for consumers, creators, developers, and local communities across APAC markets.
- • Partner with local communications leads to adapt global product launches, updates, and research into culturally relevant stories, campaigns, and media moments tailored to APAC audiences.
- • Own earned media strategy for consumer and product audiences across consumer, technology, lifestyle, culture, and creator media channels throughout the region.
- • Identify and amplify authentic stories showcasing how people in APAC are using OpenAI’s products in practical, meaningful, and locally resonant ways.
- • Define and implement the regional approach to consumer education, product storytelling, and creator/influencer engagement in collaboration with local teams and global partners.
- • Support local teams in building sustainable, repeatable consumer communications programs that extend beyond one-off product launches to drive long-term adoption.
- • Work closely with cross-functional teams including product, marketing, legal, policy, and research to ensure communications are aligned with product development, regulatory requirements, and ethical guidelines.
- • Advise senior leadership on consumer perception, trust-building, and communication strategy in high-profile, ambiguous, and rapidly evolving environments.
- • Navigate complex regional dynamics across diverse APAC markets, balancing global brand consistency with local cultural nuance and regulatory context.
- • Operate at an executive level, providing strategic counsel on how OpenAI’s technology is understood and adopted by the public, media, and policymakers in APAC.
- • Build relationships with key media, influencers, and community stakeholders to foster trust and understanding of AI’s role in daily life across the region.
- • Drive initiatives that prioritize trust and understanding over mere reach, ensuring communications contribute to responsible and inclusive AI adoption.
- • Function as a builder role, shaping how OpenAI shows up with everyday users in APAC from the ground up, with autonomy to experiment and iterate on messaging and tactics.
- • Balance big-picture regional strategy with hands-on execution to empower local teams and ensure global priorities are effectively localized.
- • Adapt quickly to scrutiny, fast-moving developments in AI, and evolving public sentiment around technology in diverse APAC markets.
- • Operate within a small, senior team where judgment, creativity, and ownership are central to success.
🎯 Requirements
- • 12+ years’ experience in consumer, product, or technology communications
- • Deep experience developing consumer-facing narratives for technology products and translating complex capabilities into clear, relatable benefits
- • Strong earned media experience with relationships across consumer, technology, lifestyle, and culture media
- • Proven experience partnering closely with product, marketing, legal, policy, and research teams
- • Experience operating at exec level and advising leaders in high-profile, ambiguous environments
- • Experience working in international or regional roles within global companies and complex operating environments
